Recently, on November 4, the OCOP Product Classification Council of Soc Trang province also reviewed, evaluated, and ranked; thereby, scoring and classifying 5 stars for ST25 fragrant rice (from Tran De district) and classifying 4 stars for the following products: canned baby corn, lotus seeds with rock sugar, canned pineapple, canned straw mushrooms, Hai Son durian egg pia cake (from Chau Thanh district); ready-to-eat bird's nest products with pandan leaf flavor, ready-to-eat bird's nest with Cordyceps flavor, Quoc Tin bird's nest, premium instant bird's nest (from Vinh Chau town). In addition, there is 1 product proposed to be transferred to the locality for scoring and classifying as a 3-star product.
Since the implementation of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program in 2018, Soc Trang has had 238 products achieving OCOP stars; including 1 5-star product, 18 4-star products, 219 3-star products of 135 entities including companies, enterprises, cooperatives, and business households. The number of OCOP products up to now has reached and exceeded 118% compared to the implementation plan of the One Commune One Product Program Project of Soc Trang province.
One of the local specialties is Soc Trang Pia cake of companies and enterprises in the province that has achieved 3 and 4 star ratings and continues to improve product quality after achieving OCOP star. There are enterprises that develop many products with OCOP standard quality such as Hai Son Pia cake and sausage Limited Company, in Ho Dac Kien commune, Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang) with 8 Pia cake products of all kinds achieving OCOP star, of which 7 products achieved 4 OCOP star and 1 product achieved 3 OCOP star.
According to the leader of Hai Son company, in order to maintain the traditional flavor of Pia cake, in addition to using safe and hygienic ingredients, the company has innovated and invested in upgrading production equipment, thanks to which, the amount of Pia cake supplied to the domestic market is 5-10% more than before. Many production facilities and OCOP entities in Soc Trang province have also paid attention to upgrading OCOP products from quality to product appearance, in order to meet the diverse domestic and foreign markets, striving to upgrade the star rating for ranked products.
According to Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, in order to continue to increase the value of local products, in the coming time, OCOP owners, companies and enterprises need to continue to pay attention to and review raw material areas; invest in improving packaging, designs, and improving product quality to increase competitiveness with products of the same type on the market. For management levels, it is necessary to encourage and support entities to standardize typical products of each locality participating in the OCOP Program; pay attention to promoting trade to connect, consume, and increase revenue for entities with OCOP products, while widely promoting the province's OCOP products to many provinces and cities in the country and exporting them abroad...
