Nearly 6,000 people attend the Dong Thap Pink Lotus Marathon 2023

Following the success of the first tournament in November 2022, which made a big splash in the region, the second traditional marathon of Dong Thap Lotus Land 2023 will officially take place in mid-October. The tournament has the message "Raising the level - Breaking through", organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province in coordination with Nexus Media Joint Stock Company, under the direction of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province.

Athletes excitedly participate in the Dong Thap Pink Lotus Land Run

Nearly 6,000 athletes are expected to participate. The tournament has 4 official competition distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, 42 km and 800 m for children. The total prize for each category is very attractive. For example, the 42 km distance is 17 million VND, 12 million VND and 9 million VND for first, second and third place respectively. The 21 km content is also 10 million VND, 7 million VND and 4 million VND respectively. The 10 km content is 7.5 million VND, 3 million VND. Each age group in each content will also have prizes. In addition, there are prizes for groups with excellent achievements, with the first prize in the 42 km and 21 km content being 10 million VND and 8 million VND respectively.

Ms. Huynh Thi Hoai Thu, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province, affirmed that the race not only follows the movement of physical training following the example of Uncle Ho but also helps athletes gain more health and express their wholehearted spirit for running, honoring the breakthrough and efforts to win of each athlete. In addition, the race aims to promote the image, outstanding landscapes, and tourist areas imbued with the culture of the West.

Deputy Organizing Committee member Nguyen Tu Anh said: "The race course this year has been upgraded and officially certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Through the tournament, athletes can use the results to register for prestigious races around the world (World Six Majors: Tokyo, Boston, Berlin, London, Chicago, New York City Marathon)". On this occasion, the Vietnam Nexus Marathon Series (VNMS) system, a marathon system organized and operated by Nexus Sport Events, was also officially launched. This is a breakthrough in standardizing the organization system, bringing quality and top-notch races.
