Previously, on October 16, due to high water levels and high flow rates on the Red River, Brigade 249 was forced to remove the Phong Chau pontoon bridge to ensure the safety of people and equipment.

The operation of the pontoon bridge across the Red River, after the collapse of Phong Chau bridge, depends largely on the river flow.

According to Brigade 249, the pontoon bridge is only safe when the water velocity is below 2m/s. When the water velocity is higher than the above parameter, the bridge must be urgently dismantled to ensure the safety of people and vehicles crossing the bridge, as well as the safety of the pontoon bridge's equipment.

Urgent dismantling of Phong Chau pontoon bridge Due to the high water level of the Red River passing through the Phong Chau pontoon bridge area and the high water velocity, Brigade 249, Engineering Corps was forced to urgently dismantle the bridge.
