On May 9, SF reported that the Russian Aerospace Forces received another batch of Su-35S fighter jets produced by the Gagarin Aircraft Plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the United Aircraft Corporation (Russia) announced on May 8.
“The plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur has reached a steady production pace this year. This is the second batch of combat aircraft delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces. The plant is fulfilling its commitments to the supply of new aircraft and is working to create batches of the new-generation Su-35 and Su-57 jets,” said Yury Slyusar, CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation.
The company also said that the new fighters have passed ground and flight tests. They also flew from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to the deployment airfield.
The Su-35S was designed by Sukhoi Corporation to perform long-range strike missions against all types of air, ground and sea targets, including those protected by air defenses and located far behind the front line.
The Su-35S is a 4++ generation fighter. The fighter is equipped with the Irbis-E multi-mode passive electronically scanned array radar system. This allows the Su-35S to detect and track up to 30 airborne targets at a time at a range of up to 350 km and attack up to 8 of them.
The Su-35S's main armament is the 30mm GSH-30-1 aircraft gun with up to 150 rounds of ammunition. It can also be equipped with a variety of advanced long-range precision-guided weapons, including the R-37 air-to-air missile, the Kh-59 ground-attack cruise missile, the Kh-58 anti-radiation missile and the Kh-35 anti-ship cruise missile.
Su-35S is a 4++ generation fighter with many outstanding combat features.
This is the second batch of Su-35S fighters to be delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces in 2024. The first batch was delivered by the company on April 11.
More than 100 Su-35S are currently in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces. The Su-35 first demonstrated its outstanding combat capabilities during anti-terrorist operations in Syria, and then during special military operations in Ukraine.
