On March 1, in Hanoi, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung met and worked with Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad for the 2024-2027 term, led by Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong and representatives of relevant agencies of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad for the 2024-2027 term.
Congratulating the Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies in foreign countries who have been entrusted with new tasks by the Party, State and people, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that this is both a great honor and a new responsibility, wishing the Ambassadors and Consuls General to successfully complete their assigned tasks, continuing to spread the image, prestige and position of the country to the international community.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung assessed that over the past time, with the attention of the leaders of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly, diplomacy has achieved important achievements. In 2023, foreign affairs achieved encouraging results and had outstanding marks, Vietnam's position continued to be affirmed and strengthened.
In recent times, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have closely and effectively coordinated to contribute to the successful implementation of the Party and State's foreign cultural strategy, helping international friends better understand the progressive Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, and at the same time a culture that knows how to absorb the quintessence of human culture while still preserving the nation's long-standing cultural identity.

According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, Vietnamese culture today is increasingly present in all countries and territories, especially at important international events. Through culture, cultural words and cultural certificates will help international friends understand more about Vietnam, thereby promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.
The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism believes that although this time they are assigned to difficult and remote areas, with their experience in foreign affairs, the Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will promote their strengths and successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
"I hope that, in their new positions, the Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will closely coordinate with the Ministry, helping to spread the good values of Vietnamese culture to international friends because culture has its own strength, helping to connect and create solidarity between ethnic groups, helping the parties understand each other better, thereby strengthening mutual affection," Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized.
Reporting at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet said that recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized knowledge update classes for Heads of Representative Agencies to help update information on the world and regional situation, regulations on management of Representative Agencies, etc. At the same time, it helps to grasp more specifically and deeply issues related to ministries, branches, localities, and enterprises in coordinating the implementation of foreign affairs activities as well as better understand the needs of agencies, localities and partners, and the relationship between Vietnam and host countries.
According to the Deputy Minister, cultural diplomacy is one of the four pillars of the Diplomatic sector. In recent times, cooperation between the two agencies has always been focused on and there has been close coordination, positive results from common cultural activities as well as specific activities such as promoting UNESCO's recognition of Vietnam's cultural heritages, along with Vietnam's successful candidacy and simultaneous participation in 5 important executive agencies of UNESCO, coordinating the organization of many cultural, artistic, sports and tourism programs abroad.

In order to continue to strengthen the coordination between the two agencies, and to identify the importance of cultural diplomacy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the key task of the Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in this term as well as in the overall diplomatic work to continue to closely coordinate, quickly and most effectively implement the cultural diplomacy strategy, as well as other strategies chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. From there, it helps to promote culture, attract foreign tourists to Vietnam as well as increase Vietnam's presence in the region and the world.
"Vietnam's cultural diplomacy creates connections between Vietnam and other countries, and is an indispensable spiritual food for overseas Vietnamese," said Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet.
The Deputy Minister hopes that in the coming time, he will continue to receive attention, direction and close coordination from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, contributing to promoting foreign affairs in general and cultural diplomacy in particular to increasingly develop, serving the maximum interests of the nation and people.
Also at the meeting, Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad discussed measures to further strengthen foreign information activities at representative agencies.
