On July 30, 1998, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly passed the Ordinance on Persons with Disabilities and designated April 18 of each year as the Day for Protection and Care of Persons with Disabilities in Vietnam. In 2010, the Law on Persons with Disabilities was passed by the National Assembly and designated April 18 of each year as the Day for Persons with Disabilities in Vietnam.

For the past 27 years, since April 18, 1998, many practical activities have been held across the country, making this day a festival for people with disabilities.

Vietnam Day for Persons with Disabilities on April 18 is an occasion for the community to come together to support people with special circumstances in society, honor their will to overcome difficulties and their contributions, and at the same time raise awareness of the rights and needs of people with disabilities.

This is an opportunity for the whole society to care for and support people with disabilities; at the same time, review the achievements and continue to promote policies and activities to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. Continuously build a humane society, in which everyone, regardless of ability or condition, is respected, has the opportunity to develop and live happily.

Philanthropists provide material support to the disabled during the festival

In his speech, Mr. Tran Manh Thu - Chairman of the Association of People with Disabilities of Lam Dong province affirmed the attention of the Party, the State, the provincial Front and mass organizations to encourage people with disabilities over the past years. Fully implementing the State's policies on people with disabilities such as: Allocating budget for people with severe disabilities to receive monthly allowances; preventing and minimizing congenital disabilities, disabilities due to accidents, diseases and other risks leading to disabilities.

Implement social protection, support people with disabilities in health care, education, vocational training, employment, culture, sports, entertainment, access to public works and information technology, participation in traffic; prioritize the implementation of social protection policies and support for people with disabilities who are children and the elderly. Create conditions for people with disabilities to receive orthopedic and rehabilitation; overcome difficulties, live independently and integrate into the community. Pay attention to and care for people with disabilities; encourage activities to support people with disabilities (giving charity gifts, donating wheelchairs, rocking chairs, household items); create favorable conditions for the Association of People with Disabilities to operate...

Awarding the Medal for the Happiness of Vietnamese People with Disabilities

On this day, Lam Dong Province Association of the Disabled received the attention and support of many benefactors who contributed and supported the conditions to organize the camp, creating a space for entertainment, making the Disabled People's Day more meaningful.

The Association awarded the Medal "For the Happiness of Vietnamese Disabled People" by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Disabled People's Association to 97 individuals who are disabled people, philanthropists, leaders, officials, and civil servants of provincial agencies and departments who have made many practical contributions to the Association's activities, caring for, and supporting disabled people in all fields.
