At the reception, President To Lam congratulated Ambassador Ito Naoki on being appointed by the Japanese Government as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam at an important time when the two countries have just upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and successfully organized activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2023.
The President expressed his satisfaction with the important and positive progress in the bilateral relationship in recent times. Multifaceted cooperation between the two countries has become increasingly close and connected, with frequent exchanges of high-level delegations and delegations at all levels. Economic cooperation continues to be the main pillar, and human resource exchanges and connections are increasingly close.
Assessing that the two countries have many cultural similarities and many potentials and advantages to complement each other for mutual development, the President affirmed that Vietnam wishes to work with Japan to substantially and effectively implement the recently upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, meeting the interests and aspirations of the people of the two countries, and actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
President To Lam asked Ambassador Ito Naoki to effectively promote his role as a policy proposer and an important bridge in the bilateral relationship; actively coordinate to concretize the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework with key tasks such as promoting political trust, enhancing substantive cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, especially infrastructure, labor, human resource training, local cooperation, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange.
Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed his pleasure to begin his term in Vietnam in the context of the two countries' relations having made great strides in recent times; emphasizing that the most important task during his time working in Vietnam is to deepen the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership towards the next 50 years with a focus on economic cooperation, human resource training, cultural exchange, local cooperation and tourism, etc.
Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that he will closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to implement agreements and common perceptions between the two countries' senior leaders, contributing to the increasingly comprehensive and substantive development of Vietnam - Japan relations.
