Promoting practical and effective cooperation between Kanagawa and provinces and cities of Vietnam

On the evening of November 15, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Governor of Kanagawa Province (Japan) Kuroiwa Yuji, and the provincial delegation who are on a working visit to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Governor Kuroiwa Yuji for his affection for Vietnam, as well as his efforts in promoting cooperation and exchange between Kanagawa and Vietnam; he believed that this visit to Vietnam would strongly promote and further concretize the cooperative relationship between the province and Vietnam, contributing to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan in an increasingly strong, substantive and effective manner in all fields.

On the basis of Kanagawa's strong economic potential and Vietnam's localities' potential to complement each other, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to promote delegation exchanges and local cooperation through many flexible forms; Kanagawa province continues to promote substantive and effective cooperation with Vietnam's provinces and cities; promote investment of Kanagawa enterprises in Vietnam and increase bilateral trade turnover, bringing Vietnamese agricultural products to Japan; strengthen cooperation in human resources, promote people-to-people exchange, cultural cooperation, continue to care for, support and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the province to live, study and work.

Welcoming the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of health care between the Vietnamese Ministry of Health and the Kanagawa Prefecture Government, the Prime Minister suggested that the province promote cooperation and share experiences in socio-economic development in general and in the field of health care, care, improvement of health, longevity, quality of life of the people and response to population aging.

For his part, Governor Kuroiwa Yuji said that during this visit, he met with leaders of several ministries, sectors and localities, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, organized an investment seminar focusing on the information technology sector in Ho Chi Minh City, the Kanagawa festival on education in Da Nang, the Kanagawa festival to promote culture in Hanoi... He affirmed that he would continue to promote cooperation activities, especially the contents that the Prime Minister had commented on.

*Kanagawa Prefecture is one of the economic centers of Japan, with strengths in heavy industry, trade and services, high-tech agriculture and healthcare; there are nearly 40 provincial enterprises investing in Vietnam and nearly 20 Vietnamese enterprises investing in the province. Kanagawa is one of the five localities with the largest number of Vietnamese people residing, studying and working in Japan with nearly 30,000 people.

Governor Kuroiwa Yuji was awarded the Friendship Medal for his active contributions to the development of the Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation; he and the provincial government and business delegation visited Vietnam seven times.
