Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that despite changes in the world, the affection between the two countries and peoples of Vietnam and Poland remains unchanged but develops more comprehensively and deeply.
According to the special correspondent of VNA, during the official visit to the Republic of Poland, on the evening of January 16, local time, in the capital Warsaw, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife had a meeting with officials, staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Poland.
Reviewing the history and tradition of good relations between Vietnam and Poland and the efforts of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Poland in fostering the Vietnam-Poland relationship, Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai said that the Vietnamese community in Poland has a tradition of solidarity, stable economy, deep integration and always looks towards the homeland, has many contributions to the locality and relations between the two countries, and is highly appreciated by the Polish government.
Currently, the Vietnamese community in Poland has about 25,000 people, mainly working in the fields of trade and services. In particular, the Vietnamese community in Poland has many successful people in many fields, including 7 scientists who have been awarded the title of national professor in the fields of physics, microbiology, information technology, artificial intelligence; many people are successful in the fields of music, painting and some participate in the local government. Currently, schools teaching Vietnamese are still maintained in Poland.
At the meeting, representatives of Vietnamese people in Poland expressed their joy at welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife to Poland; thanked the Party, State and the Prime Minister and his wife for their attention to our compatriots abroad and Vietnamese people in Poland in particular; were happy and proud of the country's remarkable development, ready to enter a new era - an era of development, wealth, civilization, prosperity, and increasingly prosperous people and happy nation.
People hope that the Party and State will continue to pay attention and create more favorable conditions for many people of Vietnamese origin to regain Vietnamese nationality; issue identity cards to Vietnamese people living abroad; invest in making Vietnamese a foreign language in Polish schools; organize more major cultural events to promote the image of the Vietnamese people and country in Poland; influence the Polish government to recognize the Vietnamese community in Poland as the 10th ethnic minority of Poland; organize direct flights between Vietnam and Poland to facilitate trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchange between the two countries; be more flexible in choosing the head of domestic scientific topics; promote Vietnam's deeper integration with Poland and the world in the fields of science and culture...
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was delighted to visit Poland with the mission and message of promoting the upgrading of Vietnam-Poland relations - the land of great people such as astronomer Copernicus, physicist and chemist Marie Curie, composer Chopin, a beautiful country with a long-standing culture and rich hospitality; feeling the warm and sincere feelings of the Polish people and the Vietnamese community in Poland for the Delegation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that despite the changes in the world, the feelings between the two countries and their peoples have not changed but have developed more comprehensively, deeply and effectively; in difficult and complicated conditions with many negative impacts, the two countries have found the best way to come together, on the basis of good traditional relations so that the Vietnam-Poland relationship will forever be green and forever sustainable.
Sending the best regards and congratulations from the Party and State leaders to the Vietnamese community in Poland, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pride in the growth of the Vietnamese community in Poland and gratitude to the community for its contributions to building the homeland and country and fostering the Vietnam-Poland friendship.
Spending most of the time responding to each of the 10 proposals and recommendations from the people, the Prime Minister said he would direct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to review regulations related to nationality.
The Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy to work with local agencies to promote the teaching of Vietnamese as a foreign language in Polish schools.
The Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to study increasing regular spending on activities of the Vietnamese community and cultural days in Vietnam abroad.
The Prime Minister said that during his visit, he discussed with the President and Prime Minister of Poland about promoting the recognition of the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority, and asked overseas Vietnamese and the Embassy to actively participate in promoting this.
Also during the exchange, Polish leaders affirmed that they will soon ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and Poland will not be the last country to do so.
The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies to review regulations and problems related to identification; requested that people continue to report these problems in detail for the agencies to resolve.
Regarding issues related to economic, trade and investment cooperation, the Prime Minister asked people to reflect more specifically at the Vietnam-Poland Business Forum held on January 18. The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology to study, amend regulations, and remove obstacles related to funding to support scientific research topics, including research by overseas Vietnamese, to mobilize intellectual resources for national development.
Regarding the proposal to facilitate the Albert Einstein school of physics, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training to research and handle.
In particular, the Prime Minister said he was very pleased with the proposal to promote cultural cooperation between the two countries, because culture is the soul of the nation, if culture exists, the nation exists, culture lights the way for the nation, culture is scientific, national, and popular.
Culture is also a driving force for development in the era of national growth, prosperity, civilization, and people's increasing well-being and happiness.
On the other hand, Poland is also the birthplace of many cultural talents and many cultural products. Therefore, the Prime Minister suggested that the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism promote cooperation in this field with Poland, including the granting of scholarships.
Regarding the Embassy, the Prime Minister requested that the Embassy continue to grasp the situation, make recommendations to the Party and State, and act as a bridge to promote the increasingly good development of the relationship between the two countries.
In particular, the Embassy must take care of the Vietnamese community in Poland as the Party and State have determined that the Vietnamese community abroad is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese national community.
The Embassy must consider the people as family members, especially in times of difficulty and adversity, in the spirit of "telling the truth, doing the truth and people enjoying the truth"; organizing ways to connect the community not only to build a better life but also to share in times of difficulty and adversity, out of comradeship and compatriotism.
In particular, here, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a very emotional conversation with Polish people who have a lot of affection and attachment to Vietnam. Among them were Mr. Franciszek Zwierzynski - a member of the Vietnam Armistice Committee and Mr. Ho Chi Dung, son of Mr. Stefan Kubiak - a Pole who left the French army to join the Vietnamese army and was named Ho Chi Toan by Uncle Ho./.
