According to the Chairman of the Subcommittee, in 2024, the key task of the Subcommittee as well as its members is to successfully organize the 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network in Asia - Pacific in 2024 in Cao Bang province and prepare for the second re-evaluation of the title of UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark, paying attention to assigning specific roles to each member.

He also mentioned solutions to promote the activities of the Subcommittee for the coming period, including proposing to the authorities of Cao Bang, Dak Nong and Lang Son provinces to build scientific research centers, conference and seminar centers, and accommodation and service areas for experts associated with cultural parks at the Geoparks.

According to Mr. Trinh Hai Son, the 2010 Mineral Law has not yet provided guidance on criteria for recognizing and ranking geological heritage. While the Draft Law on Geology and Minerals is being sent to the Ministry of Justice for the third review, there is still no basis for implementing the ranking of geological heritage. To solve this problem, the Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources has requested the Vietnam Geological Department - one of the two units assigned by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to draft the Law - to develop criteria for classifying geological heritage, and include these criteria in the draft Law or legal documents under the Law.
