Mr. Tran Quoc Bao, Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Travel Company, said that he has recorded quite impressive growth in domestic MICE tourism with an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year.
In the first three months of 2024 alone, the company welcomed a total of more than 12,000 domestic and international MICE tourists. In the Ho Chi Minh City market alone, there were more than 50 domestic and international MICE groups with a total of more than 6,000 tourists.
In addition to the increase in the number of tourist groups, the size of each group has also increased significantly in many MICE tourism groups, the largest of which is the group of 700 tourists going to Hanoi - Ninh Binh and the group of 600 conference guests in Ho Chi Minh City.
Other MICE groups range from 100 - 500 guests with diverse itineraries exploring all three regions, at famous destinations: Hanoi, Da Nang, Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Tay Nguyen, Tay Ninh, Hue, Hai Phong...
Similarly, at Vietluxtour, Mr. Tran The Dung, general director of the company, also said that MICE tourism is the target customer market, accounting for the largest proportion in Vietluxtour's customer structure.
According to the company's statistics, in the first three months of 2024, Vietluxtour signed many contracts with thousands of customers, increasing the number of customers and revenue by 35% compared to the same period last year.
Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that after being honored as "Asia's Leading MICE Destination" four times, the city is not satisfied but continues to improve its infrastructure and MICE services to attract more international events and consolidate its leading position on the regional and world tourism map.
In fact, building and upgrading infrastructure to serve a large number of tourists is also a challenge for many localities. For large groups, most organizers have to divide them into small groups to suit the capacity of carrying passengers and providing destination services.
In terms of MICE tourism, Vietnam is competing with many other places such as Thailand, Bali and Maldives - which are also attracting wedding and conference tourism. Therefore, in order for this effect to continue to spread to localities, the National Tourism Administration needs to continue to promote, market and find ways to effectively reach and attract target customers.
Vietnam needs to promote the image of the country and its people to the world, especially in India. Advertising campaigns can focus on popular destinations such as Phu Quoc, Ha Long and Da Nang as well as unique experiences that only Vietnam can offer.
A representative of Asia Destination Management Company (ASIA DMC), which specializes in organizing Indian tourist groups to Vietnam, said that for wedding tourism, Vietnam needs to create complete wedding service packages, from preparing decorations, organizing the wedding ceremony, to booking rooms for guests.
Partnering with event management companies, wedding planners in India is also an effective way to reach your target customers.
