According to Mr. Mai Van Khiem, the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year (lasting 5 days) coincide with the transitional season in the North and Central regions. The weather across the country will have many fluctuations, especially a widespread heat wave right before the holidays.
It is forecasted that from April 17, mountainous areas from Nghe An to Quang Ngai will begin to experience widespread heat waves, with the highest temperatures ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places above 37 degrees Celsius.
From April 18, the heat wave will spread to the Central region, the Northern Delta and midlands (including Hanoi) and the Southern region. The highest temperatures of the day are forecasted in the following areas:
Northern region (including Hanoi area), highest temperature from 35-37 degrees Celsius, some places over 38 degrees Celsius; Central region: 36-39 degrees Celsius, some places over 39 degrees Celsius; Southern region: 35-37 degrees Celsius.
This heat wave in the North and Central regions is likely to last until April 23, while the South is likely to continue experiencing heat for many more days.
From around April 23-28, due to the influence of weak cold air, the North is likely to experience showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping slightly.
In the Central region, the heat will narrow down and only occur locally.
Weather forecast in regions across the country during the holiday from April 29 to May 4:
Northern provinces: Little rain, temperature increases again; hot weather may appear around May 3-4.
Central region: Heat continues but not as severe as mid-April.
Southern region: Continues to experience widespread heat with temperatures ranging from 34-37 degrees Celsius.
The Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting noted that during the transitional season, extreme weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind may occur, especially in the late afternoon.
At the same time, widespread heat in the coming days can have adverse impacts on people's health, increase the risk of fires and forest fires, and affect production and daily life.
Although not as severe as in mid-April, the heat still continues during the holiday season. When participating in outdoor activities, people should prepare drinking water, folding umbrellas, apply sunscreen and wear light-colored clothes to protect against the sun. In addition, when going out, people should cover up, should not wear clothes that are too thick and dark because they easily absorb heat; reduce direct exposure to sunlight.
In particular, in case of feeling signs of health effects such as heat stroke, people need to go to the nearest medical center for timely care.
In addition, people need to regularly monitor weather forecasts to proactively prevent and ensure safety for production, daily life and tourism activities during the holidays.
