Meanwhile, Peter Grant, vice president and senior metals strategist at Zaner Metals, said that while some investors are selling to reduce their borrowing positions, others are seeing this as a buying opportunity. He said the demand for safe havens remains strong and gold continues to be the top choice.
Some more optimistic forecasts suggest that if the uptrend continues, gold prices could hit $3,500 an ounce by the end of the year. However, experts also warn that the rapid price increase poses the risk of a sharp correction if current support factors change.
