Gold price rebounds to 106 million VND/tael

The difference between buying and selling gold prices is up to 3.5 million VND/tael.

World gold prices increased sharply last night and ended the trading week at 3,238 USD/ounce, up 60 USD/ounce compared to the previous session and nearly reaching the previously set record.

Converted according to the exchange rate listed at the bank, the world gold price is equivalent to 101.2 million VND/tael.

In the past week alone, the world gold price has increased by 250 USD/ounce (7.8 million VND/tael), causing the domestic gold price to skyrocket from 100.1 million VND/tael to a peak of 106.4 million VND/tael yesterday.

Today, domestic gold prices recovered after plunging due to strong profit-taking yesterday.

SJC Company today listed the price of SJC gold bars at 106.2 million VND/tael, an increase of 1 million VND/tael compared to last night. The buying price also increased by 800,000 VND/tael, to 103 million VND/tael.

The difference between buying and selling gold prices remains very high: 3.5 million VND/tael and tends to increase because gold prices have fluctuated within a very wide range in recent days. Therefore, gold companies set a high difference to prevent risks.

Meanwhile, the selling price of 9999 gold rings at SJC Company is 1.6 VND/tael lower than the price of gold bars, at 104.9 million VND/tael (selling price), the buying price is 101.4 million VND/tael. The difference between the buying and selling price of gold bars is up to 3.6 million VND/tael.

At PNJ Company, the selling price of SJC gold bars also increased by 1 million VND/tael, to 106.2 million VND/tael, the buying price was 102.7 million VND/tael.

However, the selling price of 9999 gold rings is lower, at 104.7 million VND/tael, buying at 101 million VND/tael.

At Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, the selling price of 9999 gold rings is 105 million VND/tael, buying price is 101.5 million VND/tael, an increase of 500,000 VND/tael for selling and 600,000 VND/tael for buying.

In two days, the world gold price has increased to 250 USD/ounce.

World gold prices continue to rise in the context of China announcing additional tariffs on US goods of up to 125% starting today, April 12. According to expert Tran Duy Phuong, in just two days, world gold prices have increased by 250 USD/ounce.

"It seems that gold prices have 'run' before the news of China imposing retaliatory tariffs on the US, so when China announced this information, gold prices did not increase suddenly," Mr. Phuong commented.

At the same time, he also warned that the market rule is "Buy the rumor, sell the truth" (buy when there is a rumor and sell when the information is announced), so after China announced information about raising the retaliatory tax rate against the US, the world gold price will likely have an adjustment.

USD price increases again

Today the bank USD price has increased again after going down yesterday.

Vietcombank listed the USD buying price at 25,530 VND/USD, selling price at 26,920 VND/USD, an increase of 40 VND/USD in the selling price compared to yesterday.

BIDV this morning increased the USD selling price by 20 VND/USD, down to 25,910 VND/USD. The buying price also increased accordingly, to 25,550 VND/USD.

Eximbank increased the selling price of USD by 50 VND/USD, to 25,920 VND/USD. On the buying side, the listed USD price at Eximbank increased to 25,540 - 25,570 VND/USD (cash - transfer).

Today, the State Bank kept the central exchange rate unchanged at 24,923 VND/USD.

With the above central exchange rate, banks are allowed to buy and sell USD at a ceiling price of 26,169 VND/USD and a minimum price of 23,677 VND/USD.

Thus, today the USD selling price at some banks has fallen far below the allowed ceiling, with some banks selling at a price as low as 249 VND/USD.
