The flooded rice fields lie along both banks of the Ngo Dong River, winding like silk at the foot of the limestone mountain range in Ninh Hai Commune (Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh). Tam Coc fields were formed from the land reclamation process of people since the 10th century AD. The rice field of more than 18 hectares is ripe, heavy with rice, winding along, signaling a bountiful harvest season. Tam Coc rice fields are calculated from Hang Ca to Khe Gioi, about 1.2km long, the widest point is only about 300m. To attract tourists, Tam Coc rice fields are shaped like giant shepherds playing flutes, covering an area of nearly 10,000 square meters. From the top of Khe Gioi, this picture can be clearly observed. In particular, the rice-growing valley is completely flooded. To explore and see the giant shepherd painting, you can only take a boat on the Ngo Dong River and go through Hang Ca. Tam Coc rice fields are not large in area, but are considered unique and the most beautiful in the country. For a long time, Tam Coc rice season has not only been a food need but also a tourist attraction. Here, rice is grown only once a year (the winter-spring crop), ripening at the end of April and the beginning of May of the lunar calendar. Sitting on a boat gliding on the Ngo Dong River to see the rice fields in the ripening season is an interesting experience that attracts tourists. Tourist groups flock to explore the beauty of Tam Coc rice fields. Under the bright summer sun, the whole field of ripe rice stands out with a brilliant yellow color.
