The kites in the wind

In the cool afternoon, many people riding motorbikes carrying relatives and friends… turned into the path leading down to the fields along Nguyen Thi Danh Street (Hoc Mon District).

The weather was windy, and some people said it was very favorable for kite flying. Colorful red and blue kites, shaped like eagles, strawberry bears, Hello Kitty cats, and cartoon characters fluttered in the sky.

The people who love this kite flying game the most are probably primary school age boys and girls. On weekends, many children are often taken here by their parents to play.

"Dad, let the kite fly!", little Vy An (8 years old) excitedly pulled on the shirt of her father, Minh Hai (living in Thoi Tam Thon commune, Hoc Mon district).

After a while of adjusting and gaining momentum, Hai finally let the kite fly. Following the cheers of the girls, the other children happily looked up at the sky dotted with colorful kites.

From the needs of people to fly kites, some mobile stalls sell fried fish balls, soft drinks, cotton candy, pre-cut fruits... Fried fish balls cost from 5,000 VND/skewer, chilled ginseng water costs 10,000 VND/bottle, cotton candy costs 15,000 VND/stick.

Some groups of friends even spread out tarps to eat and drink and brought their pets along.

Let your child breathe fresh air instead of staying at home hugging the phone.

Ms. Pham Anh Ngan's family (living in District 12) was invited by an acquaintance to come and watch kite flying today. She said: "We didn't know where to go, so we came here to watch. The air is cool, watching the kites fly is relaxing. Letting the kids go out to breathe fresh air is better than staying at home hugging the phone."

Nearby, some people hang kites for sale, starting at 50,000 VND, depending on size. They said kite-flying season usually lasts from after Tet until summer.

Faced with warnings of possible dangers when flying kites, such as getting tangled in electrical wires, Mr. Minh Hai said he usually chooses an open space. He flies the kite himself for his child to see, rather than letting him control it.

He said: "Parents should be careful and keep an eye on their children so they don't play with kite strings or fly them near electric poles or residential areas."

When flying kites for fun, people should pay attention to their own safety and the safety of those around them. If the kite breaks and gets tangled in an electric wire, the kite flyer should not try to untangle it, as it is very dangerous.
