Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Nghi Xuan district awarded a certificate of recognition as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic to Dau Thi church.

According to genealogical documents kept at the relic, Dau Thi belonged to the Binh branch of the Dau family, originally from Duc Tho, moved to live and work in Dan Hai village (now Xuan Hai commune, Nghi Xuan district).

The genealogy does not record the year of birth or death, only that he died on the 3rd of January. According to the titles granted to Mr. Dau Thi, he lived and worked as an official during the reign of King Tu Duc and King Thanh Thai of the Nguyen Dynasty.

Dau Thi was born and raised in Dan Hai, a land with rivers and seas, so he was very proficient in the skills of the people living along the rivers. To protect his homeland and country, Dau Thi joined the royal navy stationed in Nghe An town. Dau Thi contributed a lot to the training of soldiers and the security of Nghe An sea. In 1868, he was promoted to the position of Ngu Truong. In 1883, Dau Thi was promoted to the position of Captain of the Right Water Guard. On March 27, the first year of Thanh Thai (1889), Dau Thi was promoted to the rank of Bat Pham.

After being discharged from the army, Dau Thi returned to his hometown to live. He died in his hometown on January 3, the year of his death is unknown. His grave is in Trung Luy, in Trung Dong village, now in Hai Luc village, Xuan Hai commune, Nghi Xuan district.

Many people and children participated in the procession.

Carrying forward the tradition of previous generations, during the two resistance wars against France and the US, descendants of the Dau family volunteered to join the army, fight to save the country and made many contributions to their homeland and country.

Dau Thi Church is a historical and cultural relic built by the descendants of the Dau family with an area of ​​169m2 to honor the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking water", as a tribute from the next generation to the ancestors who contributed to the work of protecting the homeland and the country.

With its historical and cultural values, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 484/QD-UBND dated February 16, 2024 recognizing Dau Thi Church as a provincial historical and cultural relic.
