In order for officers and soldiers to have a joyful, warm, safe, economical and highly combat-ready Tet, the Border Guard Station of Van Gia Port has fully prepared the regime, standards, and quantity of meals and cultural and spiritual life for soldiers during the coming Tet and Spring.
The unit's barracks are green, clean and beautiful these days. Taking us to visit the unit's farming area, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Hoai Thanh, Deputy Head of the Station, said: Stationed in the island commune of Vinh Thuc (Mong Cai City), with difficult traffic and harsh climate conditions, the unit proactively develops a plan to increase production every year. To make the farming work effective, the unit's officers and soldiers regularly plow and loosen the soil, maintain a suitable irrigation regime so that green vegetables can grow stably and well... Thanks to promoting production, this Lunar New Year, the Station has grown dozens of rows of various types of green vegetables, raised over 20 pigs, over 200 poultry..., ensuring a source of clean food on the spot for the soldiers' meals.
Soldier Luu Van Toan (from Mong Cai City) shared: “This is the first year I celebrate Tet in the military environment. These days, my teammates and I are actively participating in increasing production, decorating the unit's campus to prepare for an early Tet, and making banh chung to give to families in difficult circumstances. I feel very happy and excited, just like being at home. Especially, with the encouragement of the unit commanders, I feel secure, ready to complete the assigned tasks well, contributing my small efforts so that everyone, every family can welcome a safe, peaceful, and happy Spring.”
Implementing the direction of the Party Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command on taking care of Tet for soldiers, Van Gia Port Border Guard Station has soon developed a plan to ensure the Lunar New Year 2025. Accordingly, in addition to the 5-day Tet meal rations as prescribed by the superiors, the unit also deducted from the production fund to add 200,000 VND/person/day to the meals for officers and soldiers. The soldiers' Tet menu has the rich flavor of traditional Tet dishes with banh chung, chicken, pork, pork sausage, vegetables, pickled onions... with the desire to bring officers and soldiers happy, warm and meaningful spring days.
Along with the work of taking care of Tet for soldiers, Van Gia Port Border Guard Station focuses on taking care of Tet for policy families and poor households in the area. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the close relationship between the army and the people; mobilizing the strength of the people to join the Border Guard force in firmly protecting the sovereignty and security of the sea border area and the port gate area of the unit in charge.
Lieutenant Colonel Vu The Rang, Political Commissar of the Station, said: This Tet holiday, the unit gave 22 gifts (worth 700,000-1.2 million VND/gift) to families with meritorious services and students in the program "Helping children go to school, adopted children of the Border Guard Station"; gave the National Flag and Uncle Ho's picture to 1,449 households in the area.
