Many people do not appreciate the 3-2 victory of the Vietnamese futsal team over the Thai futsal team because coach Miguel Rodrigo is experimenting with new elements. However, do not forget that futsal in the Golden Temple country is a force in Asia, the futsal team of this country is ranked 11th in the FIFA rankings. With such a developed futsal scene, the young players and their potential are also very high quality.

And we must also look back at what Coach Giustozzi did in this tournament. The captain of the Vietnamese futsal team gave opportunities to many new players, typically letting Pham Van Tu start instead of star Ho Van Y or using 2 "young shoots" in the U.20 age group, Vu Ngoc Anh, Nguyen Da Hai. In addition, Tu Minh Quang, Tran Nhat Trung, Huynh Mi Woen, Dinh Cong Vien... have also gradually shown themselves. From there, the Vietnamese futsal team has more "explosives", instead of mainly depending on the group of players from Thai Son Nam Club like before. Up to this point, all players of the Vietnamese futsal team (except for 2 goalkeepers) participating in the tournament in Thailand have scored.
Most importantly, the Vietnamese futsal team has gradually overcome its inherent weakness: finishing. Coach Giustozzi and his team failed at the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship in April due to not taking advantage of scoring opportunities. The Argentine strategist admitted that the efficiency of more than 1 goal/match in that tournament was too low. But at this Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, the Vietnamese futsal team did much better, most clearly demonstrated in the match against the Thai futsal team. If they were a little luckier, the number of goals against this opponent would not have stopped at 3 when Tran Thai Huy had quality shots that hit the post. After the match, both coaches Rodrigo and Giustozzi admitted that the Vietnamese futsal team took advantage of opportunities too well. Key player Nguyen Thinh Phat also scored 4 goals and played more confidently with each match.
If we can maintain this form, the Vietnamese futsal team is fully capable of defeating Australia in the semi-finals. In the last two encounters, we won both times, with scores of 5-1 (in 2022) and 2-0 (in 2019). In the FIFA rankings, the Vietnamese futsal team is also 15 places higher than its opponent (34 compared to 49).
Coach Rodrigo commented on the Vietnamese futsal team with Thanh Nien : "There is no doubt that the strength of the Vietnamese futsal team is a high-intensity and stable pressing system. It is difficult to break this system. If the Australian futsal team is not afraid to take risks to play the ball in the home field, the Vietnamese team will need to make an effort to block the midfield area. I think this is a difficult match, relatively balanced. But in general, the players of the Vietnamese futsal team all have good tactical awareness, are experienced and play wisely, so I believe they will beat the Australian futsal team to reach the final."
The match between Vietnam and Australia futsal teams takes place at 3:00 p.m. on November 8.
