On June 25, 2024 (local time) in Washington DC (USA), the first Vietnam - US Economic Dialogue was held under the co-chair of Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and US Deputy Secretary of State Jose Fernandez. The dialogue was also attended by representatives of relevant ministries, sectors and agencies of Vietnam and the United States.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, this is the first Economic Dialogue between Vietnam and the United States, an event of great significance to promote cooperation between the two countries in general, including economic, trade and investment cooperation.
At the Dialogue meeting, the two sides had a frank exchange to propose specific solutions in five areas, including: Establishing cooperation to build a semiconductor industrial ecosystem; cooperation on energy and key minerals; cooperation on the business environment; promoting the attraction and maintenance of high-quality investment, controlling strategic exports; cooperation on key information technology infrastructure and cybersecurity.

The Vietnam-US Economic Dialogue achieved specific results, especially in the content related to the semiconductor ecosystem, the two sides agreed on specific solutions, as a basis to promote implementation. The dialogue results met the goal of promoting the development of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries after upgrading to a strategic partnership, especially in the economic field.
In particular, the Dialogue Meeting has created a premise to expand cooperation between the two countries in other fields. The two sides also agreed to hold the second Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Economic Dialogue in 2025 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Previously, within the framework of his working trip to the United States, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung had a working session with leading US technology corporations on innovation, semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
