Innovate and improve the quality of review for 12th grade students

- The 2025 high school graduation exam is approaching, marking an important turning point when it is first organized according to the 2018 General Education Program. With major changes in the number of subjects and exam structure, high schools in the province are urgently strengthening review and innovating methods to ensure the highest quality and efficiency for students.

Be proactive and flexible in revision

In 2025, the high school graduation exam will have many significant changes. If last year, the 2024 high school graduation exam took place from June 26 to 28, in which on the 26th students completed the exam procedures, this year, the exam was pushed back 1 day, that is, on June 25, candidates completed the exam procedures, the official exam dates started on June 26 and 27, with the backup date of June 28. This year, candidates will only take 4 subjects, in which 2 are compulsory subjects: Literature, Math and 2 elective subjects. This requires high schools to have flexible and effective review plans, suitable for the abilities and wishes of each student.

The provincial Department of Education and Training has organized intensive training for teachers on teaching and reviewing methods based on competency development. Schools proactively develop educational plans, classify students according to their abilities to have appropriate teaching and reviewing methods. Active teaching methods such as project-based learning, thematic learning, enhancing practical activities and applying knowledge to solve practical problems are also widely applied.

At Yen Hoa High School (Na Hang), a high school in the remotest area of ​​the province with 99% of students being ethnic minorities, the review work has been actively and comprehensively implemented. Teacher Ma Van The, Principal of the school said: “In the 2024-2025 school year, the school has 168 grade 12 students, and review work has been carried out regularly since the beginning of the school year. In addition to reviewing knowledge, the school also focuses on psychological counseling, helping students reduce pressure and confidently enter the exam. Extracurricular activities are also organized regularly, creating a comfortable atmosphere for students. With the attention and support from the school, teachers and families, we hope that students will achieve the best results in the upcoming exam.”

Son Nam High School (Son Duong) has assigned experienced teachers to organize free review sessions for 12th grade students since the beginning of the school year. Teacher Ly Van Cong, the school's principal, shared: "The school has classified students to organize appropriate review sessions. For weak students, teachers will provide additional tutoring and increase the number of review sessions. During the review process, the school regularly checks and evaluates the quality of students to see if they have improved or not. Thereby, the review work will be adjusted to improve efficiency, trying to ensure that students have the knowledge to pass the graduation exam and university entrance exam in 2025."

Strengthen testing, quality assessment and comprehensive psychological support

According to the Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 school year, the province has more than 9,700 students studying in grade 12. To ensure the quality of review, the Department of Education and Training has directed schools to innovate review methods, organize exchanges and evaluate review experiences. During the review process, closely follow the instructions from the Ministry of Education and Training. Recently, the Department organized the second high school graduation mock exam, thereby evaluating teaching and learning results and adjusting review methods. In the coming time, the Department will establish a team to inspect and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning at schools, especially the review work for grade 12 students. At the same time, continue to organize mock exams to evaluate student quality in the form of direct paper and online on computers under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In addition, high schools also pay special attention to providing psychological support to students, helping them reduce pressure and stress during the review process. Counseling and career guidance activities are also enhanced, helping students orient their careers in accordance with their abilities and interests.

Chu Thi Le, class 12E, Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, said: “To prepare for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, I have been fully equipped with knowledge from my teachers in class. At home, I have worked hard to review and find different types of questions to do. Through studying the sample exam questions, I found that the structure of this year's exam is different from last year's, the questions are more difficult, and the scoring method is also different from last year's, so we have to try our best to achieve the best results to pass the entrance exam to Hanoi National University of Education."

With careful preparation and efforts of high schools, along with the attention and support from the provincial Department of Education and Training, it is hoped that grade 12 students will achieve the best results in the 2025 high school graduation exam, opening the door to a bright future.
