The Vietnamese Para Athletics Team has concluded its journey at the 4th Asian Para Games (Asian Para Games 2023) with a bronze medal by athlete Nguyen Ngoc Hiep.
The 2023 Asian Para Games will be held in China. |
On the morning of October 28, despite his best efforts in the 400m final race of the T11 disabled category, Nguyen Ngoc Hiep could only finish in third place (time of 56.41 seconds) because his opponents were too superior.
The host country's athlete Di Dongdong only needed 52.28 seconds to become the first person to cross the finish line. This achievement not only brought Di Dongdong the gold medal but also helped him set a new record of the Games, breaking the impressive parameter (53.15 seconds) that he created at the Asian Para Games in Jakarta (Indonesia) in 2018.
Di Dongdong is also the current Asian record holder in this event, with a time of 51.56 seconds set in Tianjin (China) in August 2019.
Meanwhile, the silver medalist in the 400m T11 disabled category on the morning of October 28 was Iraqi athlete Ayade Mohammed with a time of 52.29 seconds. This is also the athlete's best personal achievement this year.
Thus, the achievement of the Vietnamese disabled athletics team at the 2023 Asian Para Games is 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal.
The silver medal was won by runner Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh in the 400m race for the T12 disabled category. Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh finished second with a time of 50.17 seconds, only 0.18 seconds behind the first medal winner, Moradi Mehrdad (Iran).
This is also Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh's best achievement of the year on this track.
After days of competition full of effort and determination, the Vietnamese sports delegation won a total of 1 gold medal, 10 silver medals and 9 bronze medals, ranking 22nd on the medal tally of the 2023 Asian Para Games (as of 12:30 p.m. on December 28).
