Provincial National Assembly delegation supervises at Ha Long Bay Management Board

Continuing the thematic monitoring program "Implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection since the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect in Quang Ninh province", on the afternoon of March 27, the monitoring delegation of the provincial National Assembly Delegation conducted monitoring at the Ha Long Bay Management Board. The delegation included Ms. Do Thi Lan, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society.

In recent years, the Ha Long Bay Management Board has prioritized and allocated large funding sources from the regular budget of the Ha Long Bay Management Board and aid sources for environmental protection activities, focusing mainly on waste collection and wastewater treatment.

In addition, the Ha Long Bay Management Board also uses other regular expenditure sources to serve activities: pollution prevention, response to environmental incidents in Ha Long Bay; patrolling, monitoring and protecting environmental resources...

At the monitoring session, the Ha Long Bay Management Board recommended a number of contents such as the need to issue more specific regulations on marine environmental protection, especially regulations on collecting and treating waste at sea; have specific sanctions with deterrent effects, binding regulations on combating plastic waste at sea and tourism service activities; increase resources for environmental protection...

Through the actual inspection, the Monitoring Team requested the Ha Long Bay Management Board to continue to complete the report content, in which it noted that the recommendations and proposals should be very specific and linked to the practical work of managing, preserving and promoting the value of Ha Long Bay.

The Supervisory Team will summarize and report the recommendations to the competent authorities. Thereby, it will contribute to the improvement of relevant policies and laws; improve the capacity and effectiveness of the implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection in the coming time.
