According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (Department of Hydro-Meteorology), April is a transitional month, so there is a possibility of many thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and hail nationwide.

Specifically, this afternoon, April 1, expert Tran Thi Chuc - Deputy Head of Climate Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that in April 2025, the average temperature in the North will generally be approximately the same as the average of many years; the area from Da Nang to Binh Thuan, the Central Highlands and the South will generally be 0.5-1 degree Celsius higher than the average of many years.

Particularly in the Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue region, the average temperature in April is generally 0.5-1 degree Celsius lower than the average for the same period in many years.

Regarding cold air , in the first 10 days of April, there is a possibility of stronger activity than the average of many years, then the activity tends to weaken.

During mid- and late April, heat waves tend to intensify in the Northwest, North and North Central regions. Therefore, the meteorological agency recommends that people be on guard against the possibility of severe heat waves. During this time, heat waves continue to appear widely in the Southeast region and increase in the Central Highlands and Southwest regions.

With the above weather trend, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that this April, nationwide there is a possibility of many thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind accompanying the storms.

These dangerous weather phenomena occur very quickly in a short period of time, making it difficult to forecast them in the long term. By monitoring satellite cloud images and radar images, meteorological agencies can provide warnings about 30 minutes to 1 hour in advance.

Therefore, people need to be careful, when seeing strong winds, sudden drops in temperature, and dark clouds surrounding, there is a high possibility of hail in that area.

In addition, cold air can also cause strong winds and big waves, affecting maritime activities and fishing at sea.

According to the meteorological agency, in recent days, due to the transition from cold to hot season, the weather has become unstable.

In the last days of March, some localities recorded hail in March such as in Muong Lat district (Thanh Hoa province), Thu Dau Mot city (Binh Duong province), Phu Yen, Yen Chau, Bac Yen districts (Son La province); or thunderstorms appeared in Dong Thap and Lai Chau provinces.

In particular, in Son La province, there were 3 hailstorms and on March 25, thunderstorms, tornadoes and hail simultaneously appeared in Quynh Nhai district./.
