On the afternoon of June 29, the Provincial People's Committee suspended Mr. Nguyen Duong Trung Huu, Head of the Da Lat Urban Management Department. This is to clarify the responsibilities of the department head and related groups and individuals in granting construction permits and inspecting and supervising construction in the area where the incident occurred.
In addition, all constructions in landslide areas, with steep slopes... need to stop construction to review, evaluate, and monitor safety. The Department of Construction is assigned to inspect, evaluate licensing, design documents, construction structures in landslide areas, and supervise construction. In the recent incident, the provincial government directed the investigation of the case, and if there are signs of criminality, prosecution will be initiated.
The above move was made by the Provincial People's Committee after landslides occurred continuously in the area, especially in Da Lat, causing loss of life and property. Specifically, this morning, a 50-meter-long embankment on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Ward 10 (Da Lat) collapsed, causing damage and burying three 3-4-story houses and camps, killing two people.
