On May 28, Mr. Thieu Quang Thanh, Vice Chairman of Yen Phu Commune People's Committee, said that a fire had just occurred in this commune that morning, killing two people.
According to Mr. Thanh, at around 7:00 a.m. on May 28, local people discovered that the 2-story house of Ms. MTY's family (45 years old, living in Da Nam village) was on fire, so they came to try to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police (PCCC-CNCH) of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police mobilized forces and fire trucks to put out the fire.
After the fire was extinguished, authorities discovered the bodies of Ms. Y. and Mr. D.VT (55 years old, living in the same Yen Phu commune) inside the house.
According to Mr. Thieu Quang Thanh, Ms. Y. and Mr. T. are not husband and wife, but recently they have had a romantic relationship.
Before the fire broke out, local people saw Mr. T. carrying a bag into Ms. Y.'s house, and suspected that the bag contained a can of gasoline.
According to Mr. Thanh, it is possible that due to a love conflict, Mr. T. brought gasoline to burn down Ms. Y.'s house, causing both Mr. T. and Ms. Y. to die.
However, the cause of the incident is still being investigated and clarified by the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Thanh Hoa Province in coordination with Yen Dinh District Police.
