Upon hearing the news of the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction and the Lao People's Republic; the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people; President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet, President of the Cambodian National Assembly Khuon Sudary; General Raúl Castro Ruz and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez; President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (Upper House of Russia) Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (Lower House of Russia) Vyacheslav Volodin sent telegrams/letters of condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the people of Vietnam.
The contents of the telegrams/letters are as follows:
* The Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, and the Lao people would like to express their deepest condolences upon hearing the news that Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, passed away on July 19, 2024.
With the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, the Party, the State and the Vietnamese people have lost a steadfast revolutionary leader. Throughout his life of revolutionary activities, he devoted all his efforts and intelligence to important tasks in the cause of national liberation, national reunification and the renovation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially the work of building and rectifying a strong and clean Party, as well as the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, bringing Vietnam to continuous development, and significantly enhancing Vietnam's position in the international and regional arenas. He has become an outstanding leader of the times.
With the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, our Lao Party, State and people have lost a very close and dear comrade. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is a revolutionary leader in the new era, a successor to President Ho Chi Minh, making a great, valuable and important contribution to strengthening and nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos over the past time.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on July 19, 2024.
The passing of the General Secretary is a great loss to the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and more importantly, to the entire Vietnamese people. The legacy of the General Secretary, a wise leader who devoted his entire life to the struggle for Vietnam’s independence and for the peace and prosperity of the Vietnamese people, will be remembered by many future generations.
The General Secretary has consolidated the strong fraternal friendship with Cambodia and has made persistent efforts over the years to enhance close cooperation not only between the Cambodian People's Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, but also between the two Governments and peoples of our two countries.
