In recent years, many ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Binh Thuan province have undergone a "makeover", especially in remote villages. For example, in Tanh Linh district, thanks to the effective implementation of projects and sub-projects from the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021 - 2030; Phase I: from 2021 - 2025 (National Target Program 1719), people's lives have changed a lot, most poor households have been supported with capital to build houses, supported to change jobs, or borrow capital to develop the economy and escape poverty.

In 2 years (2022 - 2023), Tanh Linh district has allocated more than 10 billion VND to support housing for 130 households and help change jobs for more than 100 households. It is expected that in 2024, the district will continue to allocate capital to support housing and change jobs for nearly 100 households in the area.

Resources from ethnic programs and policies have had a strong impact, helping poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households in the locality to develop the economy, eliminate hunger, and reduce poverty.

In the period of 2022 - 2024, the total capital to implement the National Target Program 1719 of Binh Thuan province is more than 427.5 billion VND, of which the province has disbursed more than 233.5 billion VND to implement projects and sub-projects to support people.

By the end of 2023, the poverty rate in ethnic minority areas in Binh Thuan province decreased by 3.05%; the average income per capita in the province's ethnic minority areas reached 46.8 million VND/year...

Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee said: In recent years, the locality has been very determined in implementing policies to enhance poverty reduction for ethnic minority areas, including promoting the implementation of projects and sub-projects from national target programs to support ethnic minority people to escape poverty sustainably.

“The locality is determined to disburse 100% of capital in 2022 and 2023, and for 2024, the locality is trying to disburse 95%. In the coming time, the province will direct and urge departments, branches and localities to allocate and disburse capital to implement projects. For some sub-projects and projects with slow disbursement progress, we will find ways to resolve them to speed up implementation,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai.
