Mr. Bui Thanh Hai, Director of Dien Bien District Medical Center, said that from December 6 to 11, Dien Bien district recorded 28 cases of dysentery, of which Muong Pon commune had 26 cases and Na Tong commune had 2 cases.
In Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district (Dien Bien province), where a flash flood occurred at the end of July, many cases of students suffering from dysentery have been recorded.
Currently, Dien Bien District Medical Center has increased human resources to receive and treat patients, and urgently disinfected areas where cases have been recorded.
Mr. Bui Thanh Hai, Director of Dien Bien District Medical Center, said that from December 6 to 11, Dien Bien district recorded 28 cases of dysentery (including 26 cases in Muong Pon commune and 2 cases in Na Tong commune).
In Muong Pon commune, the first case detected with the disease was a student at Muong Pon Commune Boarding Secondary School.
The number of cases then increased gradually, and by December 11, the school had recorded 19 students infected with dysentery. Of these, 6 were transferred to the district medical center for treatment; 13 students were monitored, isolated and treated at the school.
In Na Tong commune, there were two cases of the disease detected in the community. Currently, both patients are being admitted and treated at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dien Bien District Medical Center.
Up to now, 8 students and residents in Muong Pon commune have been cured and continue to be monitored at home.
According to Mr. Bui Thanh Hai, the District Medical Center currently maintains a mobile medical team to prevent and control dysentery in Muong Pon commune to provide professional support to admit and treat dysentery patients at Muong Pon Boarding Secondary School.
This mobile medical team will be on duty 24/7, ready to receive, provide first aid, emergency treatment, and care for patients. Along with that, the Center has directed the preventive medical team to urgently carry out environmental disinfection in areas where cases of the disease have been recorded.
The Department of Infectious Diseases of the District Medical Center has also proactively arranged rooms and chambers ready to receive cases of the disease for monitoring and treatment.
The Center has arranged an isolation clinic, assigned staff to triage and screen patients with risk factors for dysentery in Muong Pon commune; received and treated patients at the isolation clinic before transferring them to the treatment department./.
