Mr. Nguyen Cuong, who lives in Dong Ngac, Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi, shared that after the Lunar New Year in previous years, he was always fully booked to go to the first festival of the year. However, this year after Tet, he has not received any trips.
“Customers now book through apps, so it is difficult for freelance drivers to find customers. If we run a service through an app, the fee is too high and the profit is not worth much,” Mr. Cuong shared.
Sharing the same sentiment with Mr. Cuong, Mr. Nong Tuan Minh in Hanoi shared that he invested in running a service car. In the past, when there were festivals, people had to book a car a month in advance. Many people were willing to pay one and a half times higher than usual. However, now there are very few customers booking through the company. The reason is that more and more people have personal cars. Moreover, many people have switched to renting self-driving cars, leading to service cars not being as popular as before.
According to a survey on some social networking sites, the car rental fee for this year's festival is publicized at a price not too high compared to normal days.
The 24/7 car rental website publicly posts the price list for 16-seat car rental to 24 provinces and cities from Hanoi during the New Year holidays.
Accordingly, with a one-way trip from Hanoi to Hoa Binh (80km), a 16-seat car costs about 1.8 million VND; Hanoi to Son La (300km) is about 4 million VND, to Dien Bien city (about 450km) is 7.2 million VND.
Meanwhile, the price list for renting a 16-seat tourist car in Hanoi to tourist destinations during the festival is only slightly higher.
From Hanoi to Ba Vi (56km) one way costs 1.5 million VND, Hanoi to Ben En (Thanh Hoa), 216 km costs 3.4 million VND, and the car from Hanoi to Cai Rong port (Quang Ninh) 208 km costs about 3.4 million VND.
