Hai Van Quan relic site completed restoration, open to visitors for free from August 1

Hai Van Quan relic has been restored by Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city since the end of 2021, with a total cost of more than 42 billion VND from the budgets of the two localities.

To date, the Hai Van Quan restoration project has been completed and the two localities, including Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city, have agreed on the exploitation and promotion of the relic's value.

From August 1, this relic will open to visitors for free. After a period of time, there will be an assessment to build a suitable ticket price list.

Hai Van Quan is located on the top of Hai Van Pass, at an altitude of 490m above sea level, in Lang Co town, Phu Loc district of Thua Thien Hue province and Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district of Da Nang city.

Hai Van Quan was built during the Tran Dynasty and restored in 1826 under King Minh Mang of the Nguyen Dynasty.

The gate facing Thua Thien Palace has three words "Hai Van Quan", the gate looking down to Quang Nam has "Thien ha de nhat hung quan".

Hai Van Quan relic is a military fortification guarding the top of Hai Van pass with many structures, including a system of ramparts, warehouses, posts, cannon forts...

Under the Nguyen Dynasty, Hai Van Quan was an important pass, the gateway to the Hue Capital from the South. Therefore, the Nguyen Dynasty concentrated a large force and weapons at Hai Van Quan to guard it.

In 2017, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to rank Hai Van Quan as a national monument. This is a work containing many cultural and historical values ​​and is also a famous scenic spot, contributing to the tourism development of Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city.
