Nui Thanh preserves and promotes the value of relics associated with educating the young generation

(QNO) - In addition to preserving and restoring historical relics, Nui Thanh district also focuses on promoting the value of "red addresses" in the area to help the younger generation have the opportunity to learn about spiritual "heritage", fostering pride and responsibility for their homeland and country.

According to the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Nui Thanh district, recently, the locality has paid attention to reviewing and preparing documents to propose recognition and upgrading of important relics in the area to preserve and promote historical and cultural values properly.

At the end of 2024, Nui Thanh will hold a ceremony to receive the Provincial Relic Ranking Certificate for two important historical relics: the historical relic of the founding site of the Vu Hung Guerrilla Team (Tam Quang Commune) and the cultural relic of the Tomb of Minister of Public Works Tran Van Thai (Tam Tien Commune). This is the result of the process of surveying, completing scientific documents and the drastic participation of local authorities and functional agencies.

The historical site of the founding of the Vu Hung Guerrilla Team in Tam Quang Commune is one of the places that marked the birth of the armed forces of Quang Nam Province. Established on May 4, 1945, the Vu Hung Guerrilla Team with 30 members became a pioneer force, playing an important role in the cause of national liberation. The recognition of the provincial relic site not only shows gratitude to the previous generation but also contributes to educating the younger generation about tradition.

Along with that, the cultural relic of the Tomb of Minister of Public Works Tran Van Thai in Tam Tien commune was also ranked at the provincial level. He held the highest position in the naval system of the Nguyen Dynasty during the Gia Long period and had many contributions to the development of the navy, especially in the field of building warships and transport ships. Minister of Public Works Tran Van Thai also played a very important role in helping the Nguyen Dynasty implement and affirm sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in the East Sea in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His tomb is considered one of the largest ancient tombs still existing in Quang Nam with historical and cultural value.

Up to now, Nui Thanh district has 39 relics and 1 intangible cultural heritage ranked, including 4 national relics, 1 national intangible cultural heritage and 35 provincial relics. The preparation of scientific dossiers to propose recognition of a special national relic for the Nui Thanh Victory Monument is being implemented closely and urgently by the locality in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage.

Towards the 60th anniversary of the Nui Thanh Victory (May 26, 1965 - May 26, 2025), Nui Thanh is urgently implementing the project to restore and embellish the Nui Thanh Victory Monument to ensure synchronous infrastructure, creating an important highlight in the local cultural and historical space.

The project has a total investment of nearly 60 billion VND, of which the provincial budget supports 30 billion VND and the district budget nearly 30 billion VND. The project will focus on key items such as reinforcing and repairing the monument, renovating the ceremonial yard, electricity and water systems, roads, parking lots and building a reception house to serve visitors. In addition, the district also focuses on landscape embellishment, adding trees and improving the surrounding space to ensure harmony with the overall monument.

According to the plan, the project will start in early April 2025 with a construction period of 240 days. Of which, important items serving the 60th Anniversary of the Nui Thanh Victory will be given priority to be completed before May 13, 2025.

Currently, Nui Thanh is actively coordinating with related units to remove obstacles in the implementation process, especially site clearance, construction material supply and adjustment of some items. To facilitate traffic during the celebration, the locality is also working with Chu Lai Stone Joint Stock Company to relocate the barrier to manage vehicles entering and exiting the quarry.

According to Mr. Huynh Van Cuong - Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Nui Thanh district, from 2021 to now, the locality has implemented a series of projects to renovate and restore works with profound historical and cultural values, contributing to preserving and promoting revolutionary traditions.

In 2021, Nui Thanh completed the construction of Nguyen Lieu Tomb relic with a total cost of more than 353 million VND. In 2022, the district continued to upgrade and restore the Vo Sa House relic with a total investment of 1.45 billion VND. In 2023, the district implemented the project to build Nguyen Chi Tomb relic (420 million VND), upgrade Tam Giang Tomb and Temple (420 million VND), and at the same time carry out the project to restore and repair the Trinh Thi Thong House relic with a total cost of more than 904 million VND.

"We also advised the District People's Committee to issue directive documents, requesting the People's Committees of communes, towns, relevant agencies and units to properly implement the contents of relic and scenic spot management activities such as reviewing, inspecting and proposing adjustments to signboards, monument steles, memorial steles... according to the names of the relics. At the same time, continuously preserve the current status and promote traditional values at historical relics in the district" - Mr. Cuong said.

In order to preserve and promote the value of historical relics in the locality, in recent years, Nui Thanh District Youth Union has continuously promoted traditional education activities, contributing to turning "red addresses" into meaningful destinations for the young generation.

Typically, at the location where Quang Anh Minh Party Cell was established (Tam Hai Commune) - the first party cell of Nam Tam Ky District in 1932, Nui Thanh District Youth Union coordinated with Tam Hai Commune Youth Union to carry out the youth project "Gratitude Tree Row", planting and caring for more than 100 trees along the relic area. At the Memorial House of President of the State Council Vo Chi Cong and many other historical relics, youth union members also took on the task of maintaining the youth garden, planting flowers and installing solar energy lighting systems, creating a solemn and clean landscape for the relic area.

Particularly at the Nui Thanh Victory Monument - the place marking the glorious feat of arms of our army and people in the resistance war against the US, the Youth Union organizations in the district have carried out many meaningful works such as installing stone benches, youth flagpoles, historical signs, helping tourists and groups on their journey to the source have more information when visiting and paying their respects. Every year, on May 26 - the anniversary of the Nui Thanh Victory, the District Youth Union organizes activities of offering incense, lighting candles in gratitude and interacting with historical witnesses to arouse the pride and sense of responsibility of the young generation towards their homeland.

In addition, Nui Thanh District Youth Union has digitized "red addresses" and attached QR codes to provide explanatory information at many relics. Most recently, at the relic of Nguyen Y Ke's house (Nguyen Ke, Nguyen Ky) in Tam Hiep commune - a patriotic Confucian scholar and a compassionate doctor, or at the relic of Nam Tam Ky District Party Committee Base in Tam Thanh commune.

Mr. Phan Thanh Trung - Secretary of Nui Thanh District Youth Union emphasized: "We regularly direct the Youth Union and Team organizations to organize ceremonies to admit new members at historical sites in the district. In addition, the District Youth Union also coordinates with Veterans Associations at all levels to organize exchange programs and discussions with historical witnesses right at the "red addresses".

In Nui Thanh, the Memorial House of President of the State Council Vo Chi Cong and the Nui Thanh Victory Monument are two destinations that attract many delegations and students from inside and outside the province to learn and visit.
