With a favorable location, connecting international border gates of countries in the East-West economic corridor, Truong Hai International Transport and Logistics Company (THILOGI) is promoting investment in synchronous infrastructure, improving the quality of full-package logistics services, in order to attract goods from businesses in Southern Laos and Northeastern Thailand to export through Chu Lai port, contributing to connecting trans-Asian trade.

Since August 2021, the Nam Giang - Dak Taook border gate pair between Quang Nam province and Sekong (Laos) has been upgraded to an international border gate, promoting cross-border import and export of commercial goods, connecting goods from Laos and Thailand to seaports in the Central region. According to the Management Board of Quang Nam Economic Zones and Industrial Parks, in the first 6 months of 2023, more than 8,700 vehicles cleared customs through the border gate with a total volume of goods up to 57,909 tons; import and export turnover reached 48.45 million USD, an increase of 125% over the same period in 2022. THILOGI is one of the enterprises transporting and circulating the most goods through Nam Giang border gate, contributing to significantly changing the appearance of this border gate.

On September 7, more than 16,000 tons of bauxite ore of Thanh Phat Company (a business enterprise trading in agricultural, forestry and mineral products) were transported directly from Dak Cheung district, Sekong province, Laos through Nam Giang border gate to Chu Lai port for export to China, marking the participation of Chu Lai port in providing full logistics services (including road transport, customs clearance procedures, storage, seaports, etc.) for mineral products. A representative of Thanh Phat Company said: "THILOGI exploits the Sekong - Nam Giang border gate - Chu Lai port route, which has shortened the distance by more than 170km compared to transporting through Bo Y border gate (Kon Tum). Thanks to the full service package and suitable after-sales policies, the optimal cargo handling plan has helped businesses save time and costs, thereby improving their competitiveness in the market".

Currently, Chu Lai port is promoting the exploitation of export goods such as: agricultural products (cassava chips, fruits), forestry products (paper raw materials, rubber latex), minerals (iron ore, bauxite ore) in the provinces of Sekong, Savannakhet, Champasak, Salavan... (Laos) and Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Yasothon... (Thailand) along the route Northeast Thailand/Southern Laos - Champasak/Attapeu - Sekong - Dak Taook border gate (Laos) - Nam Giang - Chu Lai (Quang Nam). Mr. Phan Van Ky - Director of Chu Lai port said: "All customs clearance procedures are guided and supported by the Customs Branch at Nam Giang border gate and Ky Ha port border gate to be resolved quickly through the electronic customs system, implementing tax collection 24/7".

Improving service quality, building green, smart seaports

In order to attract import and export goods from countries in the East-West Economic Corridor, Chu Lai Port is strengthening cooperation with shipping lines, developing shipping routes directly connecting to international ports. In addition, the port also expands the business functions of enterprises to complete seaport services, providing complete logistics solutions to customers at competitive prices.

Currently, Chu Lai port is promoting investment, digitizing processes, applying technology and software in port exploitation such as Eport - Chu Lai Port Electronic Information Portal, bulk cargo exploitation software, and at the same time building cargo handling plans, using environmentally friendly fuels, contributing to the formation of a green, smart and sustainable seaport.

In particular, the 50,000-ton port with modern equipment (STS and RTG cranes) is speeding up the completion of procedures to put into use soon. Warehouses serving the storage of a number of agricultural, forestry and mineral products with room for development from Laos, Cambodia and Thailand continue to be expanded, creating the premise for Chu Lai port to become an international cargo transit gateway, contributing to the economic and social development of the locality and neighboring areas.
