On the morning of January 6, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member and Prime Minister attended the conference to review the work of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector in 2024 and deploy key directions and tasks in 2025.

The conference was held in a combination of in-person and online formats connecting with 63 provinces and centrally-run cities and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad. In 2024, in the context of many fluctuations in the world, foreign affairs have contributed to creating an impressively successful foreign affairs situation, enhancing the potential, position and international prestige as it is today. In particular, the country's key leaders have conducted 60 foreign affairs activities, welcomed 25 delegations of leaders of other countries to visit Vietnam; signed over 170 cooperation agreements. To date, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries in the world, bringing cooperation with other countries increasingly in-depth, effective, stable and long-term. Also last year, through economic diplomacy, Vietnam's import-export turnover reached a new record, reaching over 800 billion USD. The image of the country, people, culture and development achievements of Vietnam continue to be widely promoted to the world, with many more Vietnamese heritages being internationally recognized...

At the conference, delegates highly appreciated the results of Vietnam's diplomacy in 2024, discussed key tasks in 2025, especially the role of diplomacy in bringing the country into a new era, an era of national growth.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member and Prime Minister acknowledged, highly appreciated and warmly commended the achievements of the diplomatic sector, which have made important contributions to the overall achievements of the country in 2024. He hoped that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would grasp the situation, proactively propose timely, flexible and effective policies; exploit more effectively the contents of agreements, commitments and cooperation minutes with countries around the world, turning them into resources for socio-economic development.

Regarding the tasks for 2025, the Prime Minister requested the diplomatic sector, ministries, branches and localities to proactively grasp and accurately forecast the situation, identify opportunities and chances to maintain a proactive and flexible position in foreign affairs. Boldly and confidently expand diplomatic relations and foreign affairs activities; apply foreign policies and guidelines in the direction of diversification and multilateralization, associated with national independence, firmly protecting sovereignty, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment while integrating and developing deeply; effectively handle arising situations. Build a team of diplomatic staff who are "both red and professional", intelligent, decisive, and excellent in completing assigned tasks; consolidate and strengthen the material facilities of the diplomatic sector. Strengthen and consolidate the position of Party and State diplomacy, people's diplomacy and economic diplomacy to create a position and force to promote the country's development in the era of national development.
