The Ukrainian military announced on April 1 that its air force had shot down two of three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched by Russia on the night of March 31 and early morning of April 1. The Ukrainian military General Staff did not provide further information about the attack in its report on Facebook, according to Reuters.
On the same day, Ukraine's Energy Ministry said that equipment at an electricity substation in the southern Zaporizhzhia province was damaged after a UAV attack.

Russian land is under constant rocket fire?
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on April 1 that Russian air defense forces had destroyed 17 rockets of the Vampire multiple launch rocket system of the Ukrainian army in Belgorod province bordering Ukraine, according to TASS news agency.
"At about 16:00 on April 1, Moscow time, an attempt by the Kyiv authorities to carry out a terrorist attack on facilities on Russian territory using RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket systems was thwarted. Air defense forces destroyed 17 rockets in the Belgorod region," the Russian Defense Ministry stressed in a statement.
Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on the Telegram messaging app that the missile threat warning in the region has been lifted.

Russia captured some important Ukrainian strongholds?
Russian troops have taken control of several strategic Ukrainian villages near the city of Chasov Yar in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), an adviser to the head of the DPR Igor Kimakovsky told TASS news agency on April 1.
"Our assault groups supported by artillery, aerospace forces and FPV drone teams have taken control of several fortified defense points of the Ukrainian armed forces near Chasov Yar. The positions occupied by our troops are strategically important and therefore promising," Kimakovsky said.

According to Mr. Kimakovsky, Russian assault teams have advanced significantly towards Chasov Yar, placing most of the Ukrainian task force's supply routes in that area under their fire control.
On the same day, TASS quoted a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry saying that T-80 tanks and attack drones supported attack groups from Russia's southern combat group in the Donetsk region.
As of late April 1, there was no information about Ukraine's reaction to the new statement from Russia.

Kyiv says Russia launched new Zircon hypersonic missile 5 times
The Kyiv city government of Ukraine wrote on the Telegram messaging app on April 1 that since the beginning of the year, Russia has used five new Zircon hypersonic missiles to attack Kyiv, according to Reuters.
The Kyiv city government also wrote that the Zircon attacks were among more than 180 Russian missile and drone attacks on the Ukrainian capital in the first three months of the year.
Russia claims the Zircon missile has a range of 1,000 km and travels at nine times the speed of sound, more than 11,000 km/hour.
In his annual address to parliament on February 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russia had used Zircon missiles in the conflict with Ukraine. Mr. Putin described Zircon as part of Russia's unparalleled new-generation weapons system.
According to the Kyiv city government, Russia has launched 11 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles into the Ukrainian capital since the beginning of the year.

Russia asks Ukraine to extradite security agency leader
Russia on March 31 asked Ukraine to extradite a number of people, including its security chief, accusing them of being behind "terrorist" acts on Russian territory, but Kyiv said the request was "nonsense".
