According to Reuters news agency, according to the above source, the two candidates for the position of running with Ms. Harris are Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Mr Shapiro, 51, is a strong contender in Pennsylvania, whose 19 electoral votes make it a key state for both Ms Harris and Mr Trump.
As a former state attorney general, Mr. Shapiro would give Ms. Harris an added advantage. If elected, Mr. Shapiro would also be the first Jewish vice president, while Ms. Harris would become the first woman of color elected to the US presidency.
Meanwhile, Mr. Walz, 60, a former member of the US National Guard and a former teacher, has supported progressive policies such as free school meals and expanded paid leave for workers.
Mr Walz has received support from rural white voters. Although Minnesota is a solid Democratic stronghold, the state is close to Wisconsin and Michigan, two important battleground states.
Choosing a vice presidential candidate is one of Ms. Harris's important decisions to be able to challenge the Republican duo Donald Trump - JD Vance in the race next November.
Ms. Harris is expected to announce her choice on August 6, before making her first public appearance with the vice presidential candidate that evening at Temple University in Philadelphia to kick off a campaign tour of battleground states.
