The Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, chaired by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with other departments. The event is part of the Ho Chi Minh City's strategy for developing culture and cinema.
For more than a week from April 6 to 13, the event included many activities, contributing to honoring Vietnamese revolutionary cinema, while discovering and nurturing young talents at home and abroad.
HIFF has three main categories, including Southeast Asian Film (most important), First Film and Short Film. Of these, only a few domestic works such as Eight Horses Chasing The Wind (Nguyen Duc Huy), At the End of the Bed, There Is a Call (Le Ngoc Duy) compete for the short film award.
In its first edition, HIFF received more than 400 films, 56 projects participated in the Project Market and 87 scripts participated in the Vietnamese Script Incubator.
