BTO-On August 30, Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower Joint Stock Company (DHD Company) announced a plan to regulate water discharge through the spillway of Ham Thuan reservoir.
Accordingly, from the beginning of August 2023 until now, the water flow to Ham Thuan Lake has always been maintained at a high level, with the average daily water flow reaching 125.87 m3/s. At 24:00 on August 28, the water level of Ham Thuan Lake reached 601.367 meters, only 1.133 meters lower than the highest water level before the flood (602.5 meters). It is forecasted that with the water flow to Ham Thuan Lake continuing to remain at a high level, the water level of this lake will reach the highest water level before the flood in the next few days.
Therefore, to ensure compliance with the highest water level before the flood of Ham Thuan reservoir as prescribed in the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Dong Nai River Basin, DHĐ Company will discharge through the spillway of Ham Thuan reservoir with a discharge flow of 25 m3/s when the reservoir water level reaches the highest water level before the flood, and can be adjusted to increase depending on the hydrological situation in the reservoir basin.
To ensure safety, the DH Company recommends that localities and relevant agencies know how to propagate to people in the downstream area of the reservoir to proactively relocate assets, vehicles and harvest agricultural and aquatic products being grown in areas at risk of being affected when water is released through the spillway and to be highly vigilant against the risk of unsafety when moving across the river.
On the same day, the Binh Thuan Hydrometeorological Station said that currently on the La Nga River at Ta Pao station, the water level is fluctuating due to the influence of hydroelectric and irrigation works. On the Luy River at Song Luy station, the water level is little changed. On the Ca Ty River at Phan Thiet station, the water level is fluctuating due to the influence of the tide; on small rivers and streams, the water level is little changed to slightly fluctuating. It is forecasted that on the night of August 30 and on August 31, the Binh Thuan area will be affected by the southern edge of the low pressure trough with an axis passing through the North Central region, connecting the center of storm SAOLA. The southwest monsoon is operating at medium to strong intensity. The sky is cloudy to cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, with moderate to heavy rain in some places.
