Spreading the value of books and reading culture
In response to the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) in 2025, the Provincial Library and many schools in the province organized many activities to honor the value of books and spread reading culture in the community.
This morning (April 18), at the Provincial Library, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a launching ceremony to respond to the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 and the Binh Dinh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in 2025. Within the framework of the event, the Provincial Library arranged art books to create highlights along with a space to introduce more than 2,000 books, displayed according to the following topics: 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); Binh Dinh Province's Geography; Children; Culture that lights the way for the nation to go... In addition, the Provincial Library also donated more than 500 books to local libraries; organized quizzes to learn, 3D movies, and mobile library vehicles to serve students participating in the program, helping them to be more excited and have a clearer understanding of the necessity of books and reading.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also launched the Binh Dinh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2025. According to Mr. Tran Xuan Nhat, Deputy Director of the Provincial Library (the standing unit of the Contest Organizing Committee), the Contest is for candidates who are primary, secondary and high school students, and will be implemented at schools from now until May 17. The Organizing Committee will receive provincial-level entries at the Provincial Library from May 22 to 31; after grading and considering the provincial awards, 6 excellent entries will be selected and sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to participate in the final round of the National Contest before July 10.
Activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day of Quy Nhon University will take place at the school library on April 21, with the theme "Digital transformation in reading culture" organized by the Center for Digital and Learning Resources, Student Association, Book and Action Club, including: Displaying more than 1,000 specialized books and collections of Chinese, law, skills books...; minigames "Guess the name of the book through the picture", photo contest "My favorite reading corner" on Fanpage; book stalls and giving books to readers, aiming to create a healthy playground for students to exchange, share knowledge, experience and skills.
Ms. Huynh Thi Hien, Deputy Director of the Center for Digital and Learning Resources (Quy Nhon University), said: “The new feature in this year's activities is that we introduce digital databases in the exhibition of books and reference materials, instructions for searching digital documents via AI, virtual book reading technology, and e-books. Through that, we convey the message of digital transformation in developing a reading culture, contributing to the development of knowledge and research skills for lecturers, students, and employees in the school.”

iSchool Quy Nhon Primary, Secondary and High School will hold a launching ceremony to respond to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day on April 22. Ms. Nguyen Thi Mong Diep, Vice Principal of the school, said: “Every year, we organize different activities to spread the reading culture in the school. Last year, we organized a book cover drawing contest, book storytelling; this year we will organize a book exhibition, have students perform art, take quizzes to learn, donate books to friends, help students nurture their love of reading, appreciate the value of knowledge that books bring.”
Ms. Huynh Thi Anh Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “This year’s Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day takes place in the context of the country entering an era of national development. Developing a reading culture is not only about preserving cultural values but also affirming the position, role and importance of books in improving knowledge, skills, developing thinking, educating and training the personality of each individual in the face of the rapid development of modern society; contributing to building a system of cultural values, standards for Vietnamese people in association with serving political tasks”.
The 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 with the message "Reading culture - Connecting the community", "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading books - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity" was launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize activities nationwide from April 15 to May 2.
