Dak Nong enters the harvest season with 34,000 hectares of pepper

These days, throughout the pepper growing areas of Dak Nong province, farmers are entering the harvest season with high spirits. Pepper prices remain high, giving people more motivation to harvest, invest, and care for their gardens.
Dak Nong currently has 34,000 hectares of pepper, with an average yield of about 2.4 tons/ha and a total output of about 70,000 tons.

Mr. Vu Van Yen, Truong Xuan commune, Dak Song district (Dak Nong) has 400 pepper pillars and is entering the harvest season, with an estimated output of 1.7 tons, higher than last year. Many pepper growers in Dak Nong are actively harvesting in the joy of good prices. Workers are hired to pick pepper by volume and by day. Pepper harvesting is quite hard work, requiring healthy and persistent workers to do it for a long time. Pepper harvesting also faces many risks of occupational accidents because many pepper poles are 3 - 5m high, requiring climbing ladders to harvest. After harvesting, pepper is collected to get the seeds, dried, packaged and sold. Thanks to suitable climate and soil conditions, Dak Nong pepper has long affirmed its position in the market. Dak Nong has a geographical indication "Dak Nong Pepper" Besides, this year, some pepper growing areas of Dak Nong were affected by severe weather, causing productivity to decrease compared to 2024. Dried pepper is priced at 160,000 - 180,000 VND/kg, making farmers very excited. With high pepper prices, Dak Nong farmers have more motivation to continue investing in developing this key crop.
