After two exciting days, the 2024 Dak Lak Gong Culture Festival organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province was a great success.
At the Festival, 13 groups of artists from 13 districts, towns and cities in the province successfully completed the performance content, bringing the audience many good and unique performances and promoting gong culture, receiving enthusiastic cheers from the people and tourists.
Young and very young artists participate in the festival, demonstrating the promotion and inheritance of cultural heritage in the community. |
Speaking at the closing ceremony on the afternoon of September 1, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province Thai Hong Ha said that the festival had the participation of nearly 600 folk artists, aged from 8 to 86 years old, of which the number of artists under 35 years old accounted for nearly half, which partly demonstrated the promotion and inheritance of cultural heritage in the community.
The festival is an opportunity for artisans to meet and exchange folk art and culture associated with gong performances, increasing solidarity among ethnic groups; propagating, introducing and promoting the cultural heritage of gongs in the Central Highlands to domestic and international friends.
At the same time, the event also encourages artisans and mass actors to continue preserving and promoting the Gong Cultural Space in the coming time.
This festival featured many standard gong sets with good sound, along with talented performances by artisans, bringing many interesting and exciting performances.
In particular, the appearance of young generations performing bamboo gongs (Ching Kram) with standard sounds shows that the new vitality of gong culture is being continued and promoted.
Another success is that many traditional folk instruments were restored, adapted, improved and performed at this Festival, including instruments that had been lost since 1993.
In addition, the Festival has the participation of many dances and maintains its appeal, expressing fun with the participation of gongs; at the same time, many good folk songs are performed at the Festival.
However, the Festival still faces some limitations such as: Some art troupes have not invested in and thoroughly researched traditional rituals, customs, and folk dances; young artists dancing xoang are out of rhythm or out of tune.
At the end of the Festival, the Organizing Committee awarded one First Prize, two Second Prizes and three Third Prizes to the groups with high achievements. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded prizes to 30 excellent performances in categories A, B, C in 5 categories: traditional gong performance with bronze gongs; performance of traditional musical instruments combined with gongs; traditional dance performance combined with gong performance or with accompanying folk festival rituals; folk song performance; performance of reenactments of rituals and festivals.
At the same time, the Organizing Committee also awarded subsidiary prizes: youngest male artisan, youngest female artisan, oldest artisan, and all-round excellent artisan.
