The Resolution of the 4th Dak Glong District Party Congress, term 2020-2025, identified two strategic breakthroughs: developing agriculture towards high-tech commodity production, linking markets and effectively promoting all resources, and effectively implementing sustainable poverty reduction.

High-tech agricultural development

Up to now, the proportion of agricultural production value applying technology in the district has reached about 40% of the total agricultural production value. Of which, the proportion of high technology application (UDCNC) in cultivation is about 35%, and in animal husbandry is about 48%.

The total value of products per hectare of local cultivated land currently reaches at least 100 million VND/year. This result is achieved thanks to the district's focus on planning and building UDCNC agricultural production areas in the fields of cultivation, livestock breeding, safe vegetable and color production areas, and concentrated livestock and poultry farming areas.

Training and certification of UDCNC agriculture are carried out annually. Many officials, enterprises, cooperatives, organizations and individuals are equipped with knowledge of agricultural production. In particular, training courses focus on promoting the benefits and effectiveness of UDCNC agriculture.

The district is actively building and replicating UDCNC agricultural models associated with production and product consumption chains. Currently, a number of agricultural cooperatives have been formed in the area linking farmers to grow, process and process coffee and medicinal herbs. Specifically, such as: Danofarm Cooperative, Dai Dong Tien Cooperative, An Phuc Khang Cooperative.

There are also a number of models applying technologies to the production of vegetables, pepper, fruit trees, and industrial crops such as: drip irrigation technology, production in net houses, greenhouses...

The implementation of the OCOP program continues to be promoted by the locality. The district has currently recognized 2 OCOP products and is proposing to recognize 8 new products.

Striving to escape poverty by 2025

Dak Glong has set a goal of striving to escape poverty by 2025. The district is focusing on effectively promoting all resources and implementing sustainable poverty reduction.

In the 2020-2025 period, the district is implementing national target programs. These include the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction, 2021-2025 period, with the goal of reducing multidimensional and inclusive poverty, limiting poverty relapse and poverty generation.

To achieve the set goals, the locality has supported the poor and poor households to overcome the minimum living standard, access basic social services according to the national multidimensional poverty standard, and improve the quality of life.

The interests of the people are placed at the center, affirming that all classes of people have equal opportunities to enjoy the fruits of development. This change is not only to ensure a minimum income, but also to support the improvement of the poor's access to basic social services: employment, health, education, housing, water and sanitation, and information.

Measurement indicators have been updated and supplemented to identify the nature of poverty such as: nutrition index, school attendance of children, education level of adults, supplemented indicators measuring the lack of employment of the poor, etc.

The district is determined to improve people's living standards, sustainably reduce poverty, and effectively implement national goals on hunger eradication and poverty reduction in the 2021-2025 period.

On that basis, the locality has issued practical and effective programs and plans, contributing to the cause of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, especially for ethnic minority households.

Basically, the effective implementation of economic and social development programs and projects in recent times, especially national target programs, has gradually improved people's lives.

In 2022, the capital from investment programs and projects will be more than 214.6 billion VND; in 2023, it will be more than 318.7 billion VND. Poverty reduction policies will be put into practice, bringing practical results.

Up to now, the poverty rate of the district is 25.68%, down 13.5%; of which, poor households of ethnic minorities account for 42.77%, down 20.9% and poor households of local ethnic minorities are 40.6%, down 18.5%.

The important factors in poverty reduction work that have been implemented resolutely are: effectively implementing preferential credit policies, supporting production development, vocational training, supporting healthcare, education, housing construction, legal aid for poor households, supporting centralized water supply, investing in infrastructure, projects to replicate poverty reduction models, etc.

Discussing the socio-economic development plan until 2025, with a vision to 2030, Mr. Tran Nam Thuan, Chairman of Dak Glong District People's Committee, said that in the coming time, the district will continue to prioritize resources from the Central Government, the province, from national target programs on new rural construction, poverty reduction programs, etc. Thereby aiming to complete and upgrade the rural transport infrastructure system.

"The district will focus on prioritizing the construction of key traffic routes in densely populated areas to facilitate people's travel, transport goods and agricultural products, and stimulate production development," Mr. Thuan shared.

With the policy and orientation of promoting two key strategic breakthroughs, we believe that Dak Glong district will make a strong breakthrough in development, fundamentally changing the economic and social landscape in the shortest time.
