As a mountainous province with many ethnic minorities living there, in recent years, propaganda work in ethnic languages has been focused on by Bac Kan Radio and Television.
These programs contribute to bringing the Party and State's policies closer to ethnic minorities, and are also a place to convey their thoughts and aspirations to authorities at all levels.
Bac Kan Radio and Television Station currently has an Ethnic Language Department specializing in producing programs in ethnic languages to serve ethnic minorities in the province.
The department has 3 specialized groups: Tay-Nung; Mong and Dao with 11 members who are all ethnic minorities. The programs are produced by the department and broadcast on local radio and television and collaborate with VTV5 channel - Ethnic Language Television Department, Vietnam Television.
For radio, the general music news program is produced in 3 hours: Tay-Nung; Mong; Dao with a duration of 30 minutes broadcast daily. On average, the station produces 78 general news programs per month, fully updating daily news to the people; 90 folk music programs; 12 cultural and artistic programs; 20 specialized columns on fields such as: education, women, agriculture and forestry, national security and defense, religion and beliefs, legal propaganda, legal aid for ethnic minorities...
Thanks to that, current information on all aspects of life is promptly and fully informed to ethnic minorities. In addition, Bac Kan Radio & Television also produces folk song programs broadcast daily. In which, many ancient melodies that have gradually faded away are restored, contributing to preserving the cultural identity of ethnic groups.
Regarding television, in recent years, the number and duration of programs have increased compared to previous years. Currently, all three languages Tay-Nung; Mong; Dao produce local television programs with a duration of 1 program/week, 30 minutes/program.
In addition to the political, economic, cultural and social issues reflected in the news, the TV program also has a recorded music segment imbued with the cultural identity of ethnic groups in the province, attracting the attention of many viewers.
In addition to successfully completing local radio and television programs, Bac Kan Radio and Television Station also produces 125 - 130 programs/year in collaboration with VTV5 channel, Vietnam Television Station. The program content mainly reflects the policies of the Party, State and the province related to ethnic minorities being implemented in Bac Kan province; the thoughts and aspirations of the people and the socio-economic development plans of the authorities at all levels to improve the lives of the people, including ethnic minorities living in remote villages and hamlets.
In addition, examples of overcoming difficulties to develop the economy, contributing money, effort, and land to the construction of the New Rural Area, examples of village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in ethnic minority areas... are also emphasized.
These programs contribute to promoting the image of the homeland, people and potentials of Bac Kan province to people across the country; at the same time, they are also the voice of Bac Kan people about policies related to ethnic minorities being implemented in the locality.
In the last six months of 2024, Bac Kan Radio and Television Station will deploy news articles on the unit's Fanpage TBK - Bac Kan Radio and Television Station. In particular, news articles about ethnic languages receive the attention of many ethnic minorities inside and outside the province.
In addition to radio and television, today, with just a smartphone, people anywhere can access the Station's Fanpage to update news and information in their own mother tongue, and enjoy unique cultural, artistic, and traditional folk music programs.
This is a breakthrough for a mountainous province with many difficulties like Bac Kan in propaganda work in ethnic minority languages on modern digital platforms.
In the context of the current information explosion, in addition to providing official, orienting news to the people, with unique content, typical of the ethnic minorities of Bac Kan, through the Fanpage of Bac Kan Radio and Television Station, it has connected the ethnic minorities of the province with the people across the country, contributing to preserving, maintaining and promoting the good values of ethnic minorities.
Bac Kan is a province with many difficulties, so propaganda work in ethnic languages in the province also has certain limitations. The unit still lacks many human resources, facilities, and funding, but Bac Kan Radio and Television always strives to overcome difficulties and achieve many achievements in propaganda work in general.
In particular, the ethnic language radio and television sector has also achieved some encouraging results in recent years such as: At the National Radio Festival, it won 01 Silver Prize in 2020; in 2024, it won a Bronze Prize; At the National Television Festival from 2017 to 2020, the Station received Certificates of Merit from the organizing committee for television works in ethnic languages.
Although the results have not been as expected, they also demonstrate the efforts of Bac Kan Radio and Television Station in ethnic language propaganda to improve the quality of propaganda to ethnic minorities. From these activities, the Station has been making small efforts to contribute to stabilizing political security and promoting socio-economic development in the locality.
