The book " Guide to the 2025 Hanoi National University Competency Assessment Test" is designed to help students get familiar with the test structure, build a suitable self-study roadmap and enhance their thinking ability; creating conditions for teachers to guide and accompany students during the review process.
The first and only official document
According to Hanoi National University Publishing House, the book is compiled by a team of experienced experts, ensuring reliability and authenticity to the actual exam.
Accordingly, the book has 4 in-depth content parts, of which part 1 provides general information about the HSA exam structure, question design and evaluation principles.
Part 2 includes more than 200 reference questions to help students practice, self-analyze and evaluate their personal abilities; Part 3 summarizes the results of the 2022 - 2024 capacity assessment test for students to compare and refer to; Part 4 suggests how to apply the results of the capacity assessment test to personal goals.
The book not only provides review materials but also guides self-study, builds a scientific review plan, develops logical thinking skills, problem solving and familiarizes with the computer-based test format.
At the same time, it provides specific guidance for teachers in supporting students to prepare thoroughly for the competency assessment exam. This is also a good document for parents to accompany their children on the review journey.
The book has 352 pages and will be available for direct sale and online sales channels of Hanoi National University Publishing House from February 13.

New points in the 2025 capacity assessment exam
In 2025, the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam will have 6 rounds, with about 85,000 candidates taking the exam, of which the first round is expected to take place in mid-March 2025.
The exam structure consists of 3 parts, including mathematics and data processing (50 questions, 75 minutes); language - literature (50 questions, 60 minutes); science (50 questions, 60 minutes).
In terms of format, the 2025 HSA exam will be adjusted mainly in the science section and the way questions are asked. After completing the first two parts, in the third part, candidates will be able to choose 3 out of 5 topics in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, history, and geography to complete the exam within 195 minutes (not including extra time for trial questions).
About 75% of the HSA exam questions are 4-choice objective multiple-choice questions. The new point in the 2025 competency assessment exam structure will be to add cluster questions in all exam sections and exam topics.
Cluster questions include general questions and specific questions that develop and assess candidates' abilities from low to high levels. Cluster questions will exploit rich data sources, assessing students' thinking in each field and across fields.
