The Department of Education and Training of Da Nang has just informed about the handling of Tuoi Tre newspaper's reflection on teaching disabled children.
On October 30, the department issued a document directing relevant units to inspect two classes teaching autistic children without a curriculum, teachers without appropriate professional qualifications, no operating license, and inadequate facilities.
Previously, on October 28, Tuoi Tre newspaper published an article “Autism and autism schools” as part 1 of a series of articles “The world seeks places to teach autistic children”, reflecting the current situation of teaching autistic children at the above two facilities.
Through inspection, the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Khe district informed about the class teaching autistic children of Ms. Le Thi Hong (Minh Hong) on Tran Cao Van street (Tam Thuan ward).
At the time of inspection, the facility had 5 children aged 3-7 participating in the course. There were 4 teachers participating in the course, including 3 teachers with certificates of inclusive education training (issued by the Central Pedagogical College) and 1 teacher with a college degree in Planning.
The facility has not been licensed to operate by the competent authority.
The inspection team requested the facility to cease operations from October 31, 2024 and contact the competent authority for instructions on granting an operating license.
Along with that, the Department of Education and Training of Ngu Hanh Son district informed about the case of Mr. Tran Doan Dung, a physical education teacher at Le Lai Primary School.

Accordingly, Mr. Tran Doan Dung admitted that in the past, he had received 6 autistic children and organized 3 classes/week, charging 100,000 VND/session.
Mr. Tran Doan Dung has no degree, professional certificate and no operating license. The school has drawn up a report and asked Mr. Tran Doan Dung to write a report, as well as a commitment not to teach disabled children.
The Department of Education and Training has directed Le Lai Primary School, based on the level of Mr. Tran Doan Dung's violation, to consider appropriate forms of handling to prevent the above violation from happening again.
On November 8, the Party Committee of Tam Thuan Ward, Thanh Khe District also held an expanded meeting of the Standing Committee to strengthen the direction of education management in the area and handle the reflection of Tuoi Tre newspaper on teaching children with disabilities.
