Hanoi City Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2024

The contest is organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Library Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

Speaking at the event, Mr. Do Dinh Hong - Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports said: "This year's contest is organized with higher requirements, quality and scale, aiming to create a useful and interesting playground for young people, teenagers and students in Hanoi, spreading the passion for reading to the young generation; introducing and promoting the thousand-year-old capital in the process of integration and development; exchanging and sharing experiences of reading and developing a reading culture, thereby encouraging and promoting the reading movement in schools and communities, forming habits and improving reading skills for students, encouraging them to strive to study and through specific actions and deeds to contribute to building the capital "Cultured - Civilized - Modern".

"The quality of this year's contest was highly appreciated by the jury in both content and form, the number of entries sent to the Organizing Committee increased by nearly 300% compared to 2023. It can be said that the contest with the participation of all levels, departments and branches; especially the close coordination of the Library Department, the Propaganda Department of the City Party Committee, the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Information and Communications, the Hanoi Youth Union; between the Hanoi Library and the People's Committee, the Department of Culture and Information, the Department of Education and Training, the Center for Culture, Information and Sports, the Youth Union of districts, towns has brought many good results" - Mr. Do Dinh Hong emphasized.

According to Mr. Hong, the highlight of this year's contest compared to previous years is that the Organizing Committee has combined two forms of collective competition (book promotion) and individual competition (reading culture ambassador).

There were 354,632 entries (articles, video clips, paintings) from 1,335 primary, secondary and high schools in the city, along with 546 communes, wards and towns forming teams to participate in the collective competition (book promotion and introduction).

Through the rounds of competition at all levels and preliminary round at the city level, the Organizing Committee selected 6 groups and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements to enter the final round. In the group competition, the teams selected and introduced books about the Capital Hanoi - City for Peace - Creative City with attractive, creative and convincing presentation.

In the individual competition, in addition to submitting an article, video clip or painting, candidates also have to present and speak confidently and interestingly.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 31 Third Prizes, 30 Consolation Prizes and 10 Content Prizes to individuals; 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes, 24 Consolation Prizes to groups. Of which, the First Prize for the group belonged to the Dong Anh district team.
