The program "Supporting Farmers" is not simply about providing capital, but also about imparting knowledge and trust... so that farmers, especially rural women, can be more confident.
Meaningful Capital
40 farming households in Hong Son and Ham Duc communes, Ham Thuan Bac district, Binh Thuan have just received capital from the "Farmers Support" program to have more resources to develop the economy and improve their lives.
Farmers were excited and happy because they not only received interest-free loans for 2 years but also received additional support in livestock farming techniques. Their children also received scholarships and memorable experiences at the program.
Take the household of Ms. Trinh Thi Xuan Bich in Hamlet 2, Ham Duc Commune. Her family has 3 children, the oldest of whom is entering 8th grade this year and the youngest is 19 months old. The whole family depends on her husband's job as a bricklayer. However, the income from this job, which is busy from morning to night, cannot balance the current standard of living, not to mention when the weather changes.
The family built a level 4 house but lacked money to plaster the walls, so when it rained, water splashed and flowed everywhere. Despite the difficulties, the couple always tried to provide books for their children to go to school.
"My husband and I are already struggling, we cannot let our children follow in our footsteps," Bich shared.
Previously, the family received local support for loans under the poverty line. With the initial capital, the couple immediately bought a cow to raise, earning a profit. But thinking about the future of all 3 children going to higher education, the couple could not help but worry.
Hearing that the "Farmer Support" program would be interested in and provide capital this time, the couple was extremely happy. Ms. Bich's joy was also the common feeling of the households that had just received capital from this program.

Two years ago, Ms. Do Thi An's family situation in village 1, Hong Son commune was even more difficult. Her husband died early from cancer, leaving her and her two daughters with a dilapidated house.
She did whatever she was hired to do, day and night, so that her children could go to school with their peers. At that time, she had no assets other than her own income from working for hire.
With the funding from the Farmers Support Program, she was able to buy a cow, repair the barn, and raise chickens and ducks. After two years, the cow gave birth to a calf and was preparing for another litter. She also paid back the previous loan on time.
For Ms. An, that source of capital is not only the current assets of 3 cows but also the motivation for her to continue living with her children. Thanks to that, her children also try harder in their studies and achieve good results. Staying up late and waking up early, doing many jobs, but thinking about her children studying well makes her forget all her worries.
