(CLO) On March 2, Tuoi Tre Newspaper coordinated with other units to organize the 'Admissions and Career Counseling Day' in Hai Phong. The event was attended by about 8,000 students from high schools in Hai Phong.

Speaking at the Admissions and Career Counseling Festival held in Hai Phong, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper, said that 2025 marks a proud milestone as this is the 23rd year the Admissions and Career Counseling program has been held nationwide.

As for Hai Phong, this year is the 12th time the program has been held here. More specifically, this year the program in Hai Phong has been upgraded to a Career Guidance and Admissions Consulting Festival.

This upgrade not only reflects the development of the program but also reflects the increasing need of society to support students in making the right choices among the many crossroads of life.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, in the information technology society, with just one click, students can find thousands of articles, videos, and shares about enrollment and career guidance. He believes that this is a great advantage, but also poses many challenges.

The proliferation of unverified, sometimes incorrect information has caused many students and parents to fall into a state of information "chaos". There are websites that give inaccurate advice, baseless information about majors, schools or job opportunities, causing students to be confused, even going astray.

“Therefore, today's Admissions and Career Counseling Day has a special meaning: this is an opportunity for students to meet directly with teachers and experienced experts, and receive accurate and reliable advice,” Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nguyen shared.

At the consultation day, the students asked many good questions to the experts attending the program. Answering the question about the fact that many newspapers and radio stations have to downsize and dissolve, is there still room for students to study journalism and communications?

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) said: It is true that there are many diverse channels for reading, listening, and watching compared to the "monopoly" of printed newspapers, and the policy of streamlining and merging has caused some press agencies to reorganize. But this does not mean that the journalism and communications industry "has no place" for students studying this field.

The press not only meets the need for information but also acts as a critical channel that contributes to the development and communication of social policies. In the trend of multimedia communication, students need to both grasp specialized knowledge and be equipped to use modern means, including information technology and AI, to increase job opportunities in this field.

"Media is a very broad field, related to many areas of economics, culture, entertainment... including journalism. Therefore, students who study this major have many choices after graduation. They can also choose to start a business and become digital content creators," said Ms. Huong.

Also at the consultation session, lecturers and education experts shared new points about the school's enrollment plans. From the changes in the upcoming enrollment regulations, university enrollment experts have special notes for candidates in the upcoming 2025 enrollment period.

In addition, university representatives also answered questions about future career orientation, choosing a major that suits one's passion, ability, and labor market needs in the next 5 years...
