On the morning of August 25, Nha Trang University held a graduation ceremony and awarded degrees to 92 new PhDs and Masters. Among them, Mr. Nguyen Anh (born in 1950, residing in Nha Trang City) is the oldest student ever of Nha Trang University to be awarded a Master's degree.
Mr. Anh used to be a construction supervisor and is now retired. After retiring, Mr. Anh stayed home to help his wife sell goods but was still determined to apply for a master's degree at Nha Trang University.
Mr. Anh graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, studied distance learning and graduated with a degree in accounting from Tra Vinh University, then a degree in law from Vinh University. In 2023, he also received a bachelor's degree in English from Hue University.
In addition, Mr. Anh also completed the lawyer training program organized by the Judicial Academy (Ministry of Justice).
He shared that studying and getting many degrees is just to gain more knowledge for himself.
Mr. Nguyen Anh received his master's degree at the age of 74.
Talking about the reason for studying for a master's degree, Mr. Anh said: "At my age, many people are resting and enjoying themselves with their children and grandchildren. As for me, I go to school to gain more knowledge in life and to set an example for my children and grandchildren to follow."
The Master's thesis in Business Administration that Mr. Anh chose to defend was "Factors affecting the intention to consume functional foods of the elderly in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province".
According to Mr. Anh, the elderly often have many illnesses and must regularly use functional foods. Therefore, it is necessary to have more understanding about this group.
On the day he received his master's degree, he said he would like to dedicate this degree to his beloved wife who has been by his side, caring for him, supporting him, and encouraging him. Mr. Anh's wife passed away 2 months ago.
A representative of Nha Trang University said that Mr. Nguyen Anh is the oldest person to ever study and graduate with a master's degree here. He will be an inspiration and an example for young people in the spirit of continuous learning.
