On July 7, 2020, at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the Programme and International Relations Committee of the 209th UNESCO Executive Board adopted the Decision of the Global Geoparks Council recognizing Dak Nong Geopark of Vietnam as a Global Geopark. With this recognition, Dak Nong Geopark becomes the third Global Geopark in Vietnam, after Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark, Ha Giang province and Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark, Cao Bang province. Before this recognition meeting, there were only a total of 147 UNESCO Global Geoparks in 41 countries and territories in the world.

Dak Nong Geopark was established in 2015 with the aim of joining the Global Geopark Network. With about 65 geological and geomorphological heritage sites, including a system of nearly 50 caves with a total length of more than 10,000 meters, craters, waterfalls... Dak Nong Geopark, the land of melodies, has long been famous as a fertile red land with a tropical forest ecosystem, a place that stores typical values of biodiversity, along with many unique cultural, geological, natural features as well as traces of prehistoric human activities. UNESCO Global Geopark is a noble title given to a natural area with clear geographical and administrative boundaries, containing a collection of international geological heritages of scientific, educational and aesthetic value, along with other values of biodiversity, archeology, history, culture, society, etc., all of which are preserved and promoted in a comprehensive manner. A UNESCO Global Geopark needs to have a large enough area to have a significant impact on the sustainable socio-economic development of the locality.
UNESCO continues to recognize Dak Nong as a UNESCO Global Geopark for the period 2024 - 2027, opening up opportunities to attract resources for sustainable local socio-economic development.
This volcanic cave system has been recognized by the Japan Volcanic Cave Association as a Southeast Asian record for its scale, length and uniqueness.
In 2024, the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" continues to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website https://happy.vietnam.vn for all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive information products, making practical contributions to the propaganda and promotion of beautiful images of Vietnam to the world. Thereby helping people in the country, compatriots abroad and international friends access authentic images of the country, Vietnamese people, Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights, towards a happy Vietnam.
Each contest category (photo and video) has the following prizes and prize values:
– 01 Gold Medal: 70,000,000 VND
– 02 Silver Medals: 20,000,000 VND
– 03 Bronze Medals: 10,000,000 VND
– 10 Consolation prizes: 5,000,000 VND
– 01 most voted work: 5,000,000 VND
The winning authors will be invited by the Organizing Committee to attend the announcement ceremony and award prizes and certificates on live television broadcast of Vietnam Television.
